This beautiful MOC by Pate-keetongu just might have the best sense of motion of any MOC I've ever seen. It seems to be a moment in time just as much as it is a lovely sculpture. She's got all the makings of a goddess of Endor, can't you just see ewoks worshiping her? The contoured forms, creative part use and pose all add up to a MOC that just begs to be admired, and admire it I do.

Predator

You want to hear my fan theory that the Predator is actually a Sith? Too bad because I don't have such a silly theory. I do have a strong admiration for this latest build by Grantmasters though. I've always been a big fan of this amazing character brought to life by the late, great Stan Winston and his crew. It's one of the things that sealed my ambition to work in creature effects.

Hermey

OK, here's the pitch: We reboot Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, but we set it on Hoth. A small astromech is mocked and outcast by the other astromechs for his shiny dome. He befriends a young Luke Skywalker wants to become a dentist (here depicted in a Brick Sketch by Powerpig) and they set out on an adventure. There they meet a cantankerous prospector, Han Solo, and flee from the abominable wampa...

Astra Luminaria

This is one of those MOCs that makes you go "whaaaaaaaa?" This gorgeous and unconventional space ship by d2hiriyuu is as much art as it is fantastical science fiction. The geodesic construction alone is enough to boggle the mind and delight the eyes. But add to that the surrounding structure and internal illumination and you have one absolutely jaw-dropping piece of art.

Thanks for the head's up Jader!

Teenage Jesus/Baby Doll

This is one of those pieces that you can easily miss because it's so well done you might just skip over it confusing it's thumbnail for just a photo. According to builder vitreolum it's the single most difficult MOC he's ever built, and I can believe it. Just compare it to the actual album cover and you can see what a labor of love this was.

Summer Is Winding Down

It's been a full summer. I've cruised to Alaska, attended Brick Magic, saw Eddie Izzard, went camping, attended San Diego Comic Con, Went to Disneyland, saw some movies, made some movies and managed to not get sunburned (much). Now it's only a couple weeks before school starts and hotels lower their rates. But we can all enjoy this embodiment of summer in a single MOC by nobu_tary, and get out the tanning butter one more time.

Walk/Don't Walk

On a recent trip to Vancouver my family and I were surprised how "jaunty" their traffic lights were. Just somehow more happy than the ones here in the US. But how much more fun would urban pedestrian activity be with cool traffic lights like this one from Legomichiiiiii? I'd much rather have a minifig tell me it's at least reasonably safe to venture into the street, wouldn't you?

First Order Stormtrooper

Yup, another Star Wars post. I should probably defend myself but I'm not gonna. The new Stormtroopers from The Force Awakens are super badass, and this Brick Sketch from Powerpig is also badass. So, one of my new favorite character designs from my favorite movie franchise built from my favorite toy and art medium by one of my favorite builders, how was I not going to blog it?
