Tree Town

Is there anything more inviting than a tree house? Admit it, you see one, you just want to climb up and hang out (unless you're afraid of heights, or squirrels or something I suppose). I can say I've never had the opportunity to spend any time in a quality tree house, but I've always wanted to, especially if it was as awesome as this MOC by Tim Schwalfenberg. I'm not sure how much I'd trust that bridge, or that bee hive, but I desperately want to visit this place.

Final Duel At The Forsaken Abyss Mine

Builder W. Navarre has requested that you imagine some epic battle music while viewing this. It is his final entry into The Tourney 2017 on MOCpages. The category is Last Man Standing, and you can see there's a duel to the death in progress at the very top of this pretty epic, mine-themed diorama. Do yourself a favor and click through for many more pictures, totally worth it.

Mooneyes

It's a landmark of a west coast motorsports legend, the Mooneyes headquarters in Santa Fe Springs California. If you've spent any time around hotrods, or even just admired them as they rolled by, you've probably spotted the iconic cartoon eyes logo of this home-brewed and passionate company. Builder Norton74 brings us the historic location of the company in this stunning MOC, which is superbly detailed inside and out.

Battle In Hyllyard City

I've never really gotten into the books of Star Wars. I remember reading Splinter of the Mind's Eye as a kid, and I know I listened to the audio book of Heir to the Empire, but didn't really get into either of them. But I know the Thrawn Trilogy is hugely popular, and builder markus19840420 is clearly a fan based on this marvelous MOC depicting the eternal struggle of rebels vs Empire.

Skirmish At Nassau

Sometimes things don't go the way you'd like on a series you're watching. A favorite character dies, the heroine falls for "that guy", or for some reason a polar bear shows up. Most people just grumble about it, and tune in next week, but if you're builder Mpyromaxos you build a huge MOC that reimagines how things should have gone. This is his interpretation of the events at Nassau in the series (spoilers?). I especially like the Spongebob and Patrick cameo.

Here's a fun fact: I worked on the last season of Black Sails. I could tell you who dies, if I only watched the series and knew anyone's name. All I know is I spent day after day killing pirates, lots of them.

Icebreaker

Being from the central coast of California, maritime ice management is not really in my wheelhouse. So I found the description of this build, or more the organization that inspired it, fascinating. Adam Dodge built this to celebrate Canada's 150th birthday, and the Canadian Coast Guard, who not only provide ice breaking services for commercial ships, but also escorts, harbour breakouts, maintain shipping routes and provide ice information services.

Coral Sandbar

Usually the first thing you think of when considering the pirate genre is not bright, cheerful colors. But this MOC by W. Navarre may change your mind about that. And while the cleverly built colorful coral is excellent, my favorite aspect is the subtle coloration and almost caustic lighting effect caused by the trans blue water above. Built for round two of "The Tourney" on MOCpages.

The Last Of Us

I hope you have some time on your hands, because I have a little eye candy for you. Actually it's a lot of eye candy, like a full game level of eye candy, in this intensely detailed and jaw-dropping diorama by builder Tim Schwalfenberg. It's inspired by the video game The Last of Us, and like the game it's an absolute work of dystopian art. Click through for many more pictures, and make yourself comfortable, you have some gawking to do.

Tropical Shores

I was fortunate enough to view this impressive tropical island pirate MOC in an earlier iteration at BrickCon. It's a collaborative build by Takkata1 and ForlornEmpire and it's pretty spectacular. There's little touches and fun back story everywhere you look, but that temple entrance is a total scene stealer. Check out the video for a time lapse of it's construction and to see the moving features in action.

Jungle Temple

I've never actually seen a pyramid, and to tell the truth I've never actually felt the need to. It's not that I don't appreciate ancient engineering, or have anything against the cultures that created them, it's because I'm from the central coast of California. This means I don't do hot, I don't do cold, and I don't do humidity. And it seems that everywhere pyramids are, that's what's around them. Just look at this marvelous jungle pyramid by builder MassEditor. You can practically hear the bugs, feel the sweat dripping down your back and smell the damp jungle air. I think I'll stick to The Jungle Cruise at Disneyland as a suitable substitute (then grab a Dole Whip, because it gets hot in Anaheim too).

Tetley Tea Train

Yes, I'm drinking my tea while I'm posting about this tea train. Of course, mine is PG Tips, and this is Tetley, but we'll give it a pass since it's so brilliant. If this wonderful scene by BrickBaron looks more like a whimsical illustration than a MOC, that's because it's inspired directly by an illustration. The bright colors, masterful construction and humor naturally draw you in.

Blacksmith's Shop & The House Of Peer Rumstiek

Does anyone else hear medieval minstrel music when they look at castle MOCs? I mean, the moment I looked at this wonderful blacksmith's shop and tudor house by Sylon-tw, I heard music right out of Excalibur (not the Mozart stuff, the minstrel music). I realize that music shapes and colors my creative world, but I have to wonder if I'm alone in this phenomenon.

AT-ACT

They're huge, they're menacing and they're armored...not to mention they walk! They're Imperial Walkers, and you really don't want to see them advancing on you. This is the AT-ACT, a cargo hauling variation seen for the first time in Rogue One. And while their primary function is to move things from one place to another, they can certainly hold their own in battle. This version by Forgotten Days looks like it's ready for some stompy stompy pew pew action.

Decorating For Christmas

BrickNerd's very own Nick Sweetman spends a little time every holiday season to make some scenes worthy of Christmas cards (in fact, they become cards courtesy of RedBubble). And with Christmas less than a week away, carols in the background and a chill in the air, I'm feeling pretty darn ready for Santa to visit, and these scenes just add to the cheer and excitement. C'mon December 25th!

Forbidding Castle

The color palette on this castle diorama by builder ZCerberus is a little misleading. The warm, inviting colors of an almost fall-like setting draw you in, welcoming you. Then you take a closer look and realize this is not a friendly place, not friendly at all. The decrepit aging of the castle is really well done, with what looks like centuries of retrofits and kludged repairs. And I don't know what's going on in the water there, but I don't recommend fishing.
