Tale As Old As Time

Builder M<0><0>DSWIM imagines the classic tale of Beauty and the Beast with a little less romance and a lot more machine oil. Meet Belle and the Beast, two mobile suits that are turning this story on it's head. I do have to wonder how it might be possible for beast to imprison her in his castle, I think she'd just kick his ass.

Buddha Robot

I don't know what inspired it, I don't know the story behind it, and some quick google searches didn't help, so I'll just present it. Meet Buddha Robot by Moko, a surprisingly posable humanoid robot. Just based on the construction I wouldn't have guessed the range of motion of this mech (yeah, he's a mech, there's actually a figure inside!), but check out Moko's website for even more pics, this is only a glimpse.

Centaur Knight Mech

This is an awesome mashup of mech and myth from builder LEGO 7. Meet the Centaur Knight Mech, which has the amazing concept of taking a centaur (part man, part horse) and realizing it in mech form. The results are stunning, in both form factor and construction. The details are understated, keeping it sleek and purposeful, and the color combinations really work well.

With so many LEGO mechs on Flickr, it's hard to stand out, but there is a way. First you need excellent construction, that's obvious. But then you need a killer color combination, and a background that sets it off. Lastly is posing and photography, you took all that time to build an awesome mech, then you snap a picture in front of a wrinkled bedsheet with a five year old cell phone? Do you creation justice, like this beautiful mech from Moko, which hits all the points from above and then some.

Spider

I don't know what a plague mech is, but if this is a typical one they scare me. Black on black was a bold choice for photographing this MOC by The Chosen One, a gamble that paid off. What you don't see is just as important as what you do, this thing is scary. You get just enough visual queues to see the overall form, and key details, and the rest is left to your imagination, your terrified imagination.

AstroMECH

Things might have gone differently in so many situations if R2-D2 had his own mech like this one from M<0><0>DSWIM. Tuskin Raiders? No Problem. Fell in a swamp? No problem. Stormtroopers? No Problem. Battle of Yavin? Ok, fitting him in the back of an X-Wing might have been a small problem, but I'm guessing this baby has flight capabilities, so no problem!

Luke's Mech

Imagine an alternate universe where the heroes and villains of Star Wars battled with mechs. That's the world builder M<0><0>DSWIM has been constructing for some time now, and it's pretty awesome. You can see the design cues from Luke's landspeeder in this mech, and it looks primed and ready to defend Tattooine from the evil galactic empire.

HYPR10NN

Even the mechs with the highest of tech need a little diagnostics and TLC from time to time. Despite it's imposing appearance and no doubt incredible capability, this mech still needs a little time for a little upkeep in this cool MOC by geraldcacas. Unless that guy is just playing Space Invaders, possibly, maybe Galaga. Even techs need a little distraction from time to time.

Dinosaur Mecha

Let's face it, dinosaurs are cool and fascinating, but also big and terrifying. I don't think we'd be at the top of the food chain had they not been wiped out. But we can sorta bring them back, in mechanical form, and they'd be just as big and scary. Like this brilliant robotic beast by nobu_tary, all pistons and servos, all stompy and bitey. Just hopefully completely under control, or it's back to hiding in holes for us.
