While the description of this strange character by builder Prhymus says this is a "wandering shepherd in need of a new flock", I'm not certain what kind of flock we're talking about here. The unconventional proportions and build style make this a very compelling character. It's hard to imagine this entity patiently watching over some sheep.

The Year of the Pig

Builder Kingmarshy is getting a little ahead of himself since it's still Year of the Dog, but this entry for the Bio-Cup contest looks like a winner to me!  I'm normally not a Bionicle fan, but this gluttonous creature, Zhu Bajie the Pig, and the fancy spread he's enjoying has a great blend of system parts, really bringing him to life.  And even though Kingmarshy spent quite a bit of time on this awesome creation, he was actually ready to build something else in a half an hour.

The Hidden Mask

I recently discovered the incredible work that is done by Mitch Phillips. When I was young, Bionicle was one of my top go-to toys. I loved collecting and building them, and even combing them into my own models. Thinking back at it, this was my very first experience with LEGO, though I didn't consider that it was actually made by the company that made the same building sets that I didn't like at the time, because they always fell apart. Because of my early interest in this awesome theme released by LEGO, I will always have an appreciation of equally awesome Bionicle MOCs. This creation is yet another unique one that I have found lately, and I love every bit of it. If you look closely enough, you'll realize that nearly everything seen here is made with Bionicle or other similar building system elements, with only a few exceptions. That building decision certainly added a lot to this scene!

Nathaniel Stoner

My name is Nathaniel Stoner, and I am an very active LEGO builder.  I mostly build in the themes of castle and science-fiction, but I also dabble in other genres and create occasional random MOC's (My Own Creations).

When I was younger, I would get and build small LEGO sets for my birthday, but I was never really into them.  When they fell apart, I would become frustrated attempting to put them back together and would throw them in a box in my closet.  I couldn't stand them!

Then, miraculously, I became addicted to the LEGO brick later in my teen years.  Ever since, I have continued to build up (pun intended) my collection of bricks and to expand my knowledge of techniques and building skills.  LEGO is truly more than a toy, its an art form and a way to express yourself.

For the most part, I collect LEGO Star Wars (mainly the minifigs), which is probably my favorite LEGO theme.  I have a fairly decent collection, including some of the original 1999 sets, such as the Snowspeeder, X-Wing, and Naboo starfighter.  I also collected LEGO the Lord of the Rings when those sets first came out.  The minifigs are great, and the story remains one of my favorites ever.

My hope is to inspire other young (and perhaps even older) LEGO builders to unleash their inner creativity!  You can find me on my Flikr here

Pr0t34n

I'm always fascinated with the genesis of a MOC. Sometimes it's a desire to recreate something, sometimes it's a piece of a larger story, sometimes it's just a part that makes you go "hmm". This way cool robot by Mana Ramp Matron came about with the experimentation of using a Technic seat as a head, and just look at the results. You just never know where the bricks will take you.

Merchant Matteo

Bionicle builder Mana Ramp Matron is back with another awesome creation, not only for it's construction, but for the lore behind it. Giving a back story on a build isn't uncommon, many builders weave a little storytelling into their MOCs (which is so cool) but this one is unusual for the subject matter. This is actually based on a previously built character, and tells the story from his past. The original figure of Matteo has seen numerous upgrades and rebuilds over the years, now a new chapter opens, with some of his mysterious past coming to light.

Try Getting Past Him

Creative character builder Djokson has an intense bodyguard.  Don't even try to steal any of his LEGO elements. In all seriousness, the builder executed a menacing aspect incredibly well.  This demon-like creature is something you'd only see in a nightmare.  When I was younger, I collected Bionicle figures (I still have a large box under my LEGO desk).  However, I have no talent for creating my own.  Seeing models like these always impresses me.  I'm getting a little bit of a Makuta vibe off this guy, only I think I'd rather fight Makuta than this one.

Valtias, The Blizzard Tyrant

This new character from builder Mana Ramp Matron is one of those MOCs that makes you stop and go "wait, what?" From the thumbnail you'd hardly expect it's LEGO, and even when you're looking at full res it defies logic. The unusual color scheme combined with the part use and construction is as confusing to the eye as it is delightful. It almost looks like it's lit with UV it's so unusual. Thankfully we don't have blizzards here on the central coast of California, I don't want to run into this guy.

Tsukiko

Confession time: I never watch any anime, ever. Not saying that I wouldn't like it, I just haven't watched any. So, I have absolutely no idea who or what this build by Djordje is. But I really dig it. This gal is a beautiful example of what can be accomplished by combining System and Bionicle pieces. Also, all the shaping is fantastic (especially on the skirt), and that purple hair is just awesome.

Just Troopin' Along

I'm not often a huge fan of Bionicle/Hero Factory style MOCs, but Djordje's builds always impress me. This futuristic trooper is no exception. It amazes me how the builder can get such unusual and disparate pieces to mesh smoothly. For example, the bottom of the soldier's head is the cowling from a Chima Speedor. Such a weird piece, and it works perfectly. I also really like how realistically posed this guy is, from the way he's holding the gun to his "come at me, bro" stance.

Meet Matteo 4.0

This extraordinary guy is born from the awesome imagination of Dave Foreman. Matteo is made from Bionicle LEGO pieces and is packed full of detail. I can imagine Matteo skulking the streets of Victorian London late at night, hiding in the shadows as he makes his way to deliver a potion. He carries a gas lamp and a messenger bag - which contains books, a magnifying glass, medicine bottle and syringe. His cane is topped with a red spider eating a snake and he wears a bat pendant and pocket watch. Matteo's cape and hat make me think he's quite the gentleman . I wonder what the keys on his belt are keeping locked away...?

Centaur Knight

This centaur knight by nobu_tary is a fantastic mashup of Knights Kingdom, Bionicle and Hero Factory, with just a little bit of System thrown in for flavor. All seamlessly blended into one fantastic fantasy character. Combine that with the pose and the photography and it all comes together to near perfection.
