Quick Builds #5: Santa and Nutcracker Christmas Ornaments

With Christmas around the corner, we are bringing the holiday spirit with two small ornaments that you can build and place on your tree. (Check out our Grinch ornament instructions from last year if you want even more Christmas cheer!)

Instructions to Build a Santa Ornament

First up is one is the all-time MVP, Santa! This one is tiny and still in his pajamas.

Santa Christmas Ornament

We start with an unusual piece for the face using minifigure hips. I've used one in tan, but you can go with light nougat, reddish brown, yellow, or whatever color you like. You'll need a white leg too to use as his beard. The rest is pretty straightforward. (You can download Santa’s nice part list here.)

Instructions to Build a Nutcracker Ornament

The second ornament is The Nutcracker! It’s really quite similar to Santa’s build with a few styling changes and one added feature you can see below. The build is based on the same minifig hips with few modifications and buffed-up arms.

The Nutcracker

This ornament can move! Our Nutcracker’s mouth can open and close. I didn’t have any of those cute 1x1 round acorn or walnut tiles to test them out, so you’ll have to try out the function yourself. (Sorry for the not-so-perfect gif image—I didn't have anything to make my phone stable with between the shots).

You can download the parts list for the Nutcracker ornament here.

Now you can decorate your Christmas tree (or Eiffel Tower) with even more ornaments packed full of holiday NPU!

I also want to remind you that we are down to the last week of BrickNerd’s Festive FUNdraiser for Fairy Bricks. We are donating all of the income from LEGO seasonal sets purchased through our LEGO affiliate link through the end of the year. The money will go to kids in need and will hopefully bring some joy and smiles. Merry Christmas everyone!
