LEGO Community Headlines and Highlights for February 2025

February may have been the shortest month of the year, but there was no shortage of great LEGO content from around the globe!

Here at BrickNerd we celebrated FebRovery by looking back at some classic rovers, provided instructions for building your own mini rovers, and dreamt of designing the ultimate rover digitally where parts and budget limits don’t exist. We looked at what it took to design a Dutch Villa worthy of the LEGO House Masterpiece Gallery, a futuristic cyberpunk city down under, and analyzed the shifting landscape of LEGO architecture. We took a hard look at the real-world inspiration for the Twilight House, explored taking the French Cafe design to new heights, and found love in the air with the Love sculpture. We even put several structural beam designs to the test and explored a phenomenal working camera slide design, and so much more! In fact, we’ve published so many interesting articles in February that we’ve included an interactive calendar of them at the bottom of this post so you can make sure you didn’t miss a thing.

But there are many more fascinating stories to be told from within the LEGO community, so here are some of the best LEGO articles and videos that caught our contributors’ attention throughout the month of February. We applaud the effort that went into each of these features, so click on the headlines or photos to head to each story or video. They are well worth your time!

Fx Bricks: Happy 2025!

While I tend to lean towards the purist side of LEGO building, I can’t help but admire the high quality and innovative 9V-compatible products from Fx Bricks. LEGO abandoned the 9V platform years ago, but Fx Bricks has provided a range of products to not only keep it alive but also make some awesome improvements! From the range of different curved track radii to some innovative electrical components, this blog post gives us some insight into what to expect in 2025.

Jay’s Brick Blog: Sending the LEGO The Endurance to Antarctica

This was my personal favorite for the month! Most Recognized LEGO Fan Media (RLFM) sites try to put a creative spin on new sets when they receive them, but sending the set to Antarctica where the ship met its fate was really inspired. And what a treat for one of Jay’s readers to be able to build, review and photograph the set on site!

LEGO Newsroom: Introducing Tires Made With Recycled Materials

The LEGO Group has announced a new sustainability initiative: tires made from recycled materials that are already appearing in sets. The tires are made with more than a third of old fishing nets, ropes and engine oil.

Lord Maxwell: I Animated LEGO in Every Frame Rate

LEGO stop motion films are an art form we can all appreciate, but few of us have the patience to produce. This video looks at a spectrum of frames per second (FPS) to find the sweet spot of maximizing quality while minimizing the time investment. Place your own bet on which will win before watching the video.

New Elementary: LEGO House New-for-2025 Fabuland Exhibit

The LEGO House history collection has updated its history display to include a Fabuland exhibit. It is wonderful that this display area gets updated annually to keep the collection fresh for repeat visitors. New Elementary has a great selection of photos and a video of this elaborate historical display. And certainly not a coincidence, but the next LEGO House exclusive set Fabuland Tribute releases on March 1st.

Rebrickable: Classic Theme Revisit - Insectoids

The classic Insectoids theme may be long gone, but its biomechanical bug designs still captivate fans today. Rebrickable takes a deep dive into this 1998 space subtheme, exploring its unique aesthetic, play features, and lasting appeal. Read the full article to revisit this creepy-crawly classic!

SixDeadZero HEMA: Did LEGO Invent a Fake Medieval Polearm?

Falling into the category of “answers to questions I never knew I had,” this video looks at whether this weapon has any historical basis or was invented by a LEGO designer. Judging from the prolific weapons on display in the video background, SixDeadZero HEMA seems to be knowledgeable on medieval weapons. But no spoilers here. You’ll need to watch for yourself to see if it’s real or from the designer’s imagination.

StoneWars: The Colorful World of LEGO Fabuland (translated)

Before minifigures took over, LEGO Fabuland brought a world of charming animal characters and simple builds to young fans from 1979 to 1989. StoneWars takes a nostalgic look at this beloved theme, its impact on LEGO storytelling, and its lasting appeal.

The Brick Blogger: InstructaBrick - Library for Digital LEGO Instructions

While LEGO has digital instructions available on their website for (most) recent sets, The Brick Blogger has pointed out this terrific resource.
