Back before it was cool to put time machines in Deloreans and police call boxes, H. G. Wells showed us how it was done. And Pete Reid shows us how it's done in LEGO. Incidently, in a total time paradox this photo was taken by a Canon Powershot in 1895. Clearly this thing works.
This is some serious Star Warsy mashupness. Flickr user markus19840420 has combined all the intercut scenes in the final battle of ROTJ into a single MOC. One might have thought this impossible, but here it is. Luke is in the throne room, the Falcon is narrowly escaping the explosion as the Ewoks kick some butt.
If there was any doubt that LEGO can be sexy, this MOC by Pate-Keetongu should put that to rest. It should also silence any critics that think Bionicle and Hero Factory parts are "for kids". Clearly, this is for adults...somewhat deviant adults.
I'm a Nintendo nerd, you all know that. So I'm having a hard time keeping my composure here at Starbucks (to avoid spooking the old ladies again). I'm sure all the caffeine isn't helping. This collections of MOCs just blew my mind. Not only is it a pretty spiffy MOC of a N64, controller and carts, but they TRANSFORM! Holy crap!
One again I lose one HP nerd cred by not knowing who this is. A quick Google search reveals she's a railgun and has a fear of bugs (?). All I know is this is a sweet MOC. Nice work Mike Dung.
Me either, I don't speak French. But I'm sure they would be impressed with this superb MOC by Adam Meyers. I love stacked plate mosaics, the subtle gradations possible are excellent. If you squint you'd swear this is just a processed photograph.
This seems custom built for BrickCon's theme this year "Pigs vs Cows", but it's actually for Mr. Xenomurphy's super hero contest. Although I trust we'll get to see it in person in Seattle this October, right Dave? Right?
Mike & Sulley! I never had a monster under my bed as a youth, unless you count my little brother. You see I slept in the upper bunk, so I didn't worry much about what was under me, unless he was kicking my mattress trying to get my attention. I do recall my brother being deeply disturbed by my Revell Monsters model kits though, so there was some fear in the room.
Who can resist a Gregory Peck MOC? Dave Kaleta couldn't resist building it, I couldn't resist posting it. This scene recreates the court scene in To Kill A Mockingbird, the feature film adaptation of the great modern American classic book.
Theme parks are another of my passion (well, Disneyland and LEGOLAND at least) and this huge MOC from OliveSeon looks like one you'd have a hard time getting me out of. Three lands are represented here, Star Wars, LOTR and Marvel, and each land is packed with detail. I'm hoping more images come soon because I want to get a closer look. This MOC is too nerdy not to post. Being a long time Star Wars fan and a visual effect guy, this one is close to my heart. The best MOCs tell a story or evoke emotion, this does both. I feel like a bit of a dork at Starbucks right now having literally laughed out loud seeing the and spooking some poor old ladies sitting next to me. They're sitting further away now. When the official Council of Elrond set was announced this is what I pictured, then I saw what it really was and, well...meh. This is gorgeous though. The second you look at it you can almost hear the Rivendell music playing. The most delightful detail is Sam, Merry and Pippin all watching from the outside.
Mind=blown. I saw pictures of this trickling in from BrickFair and couldn't believe what I was seeing. And now with decent photographs it's still hard to wrap my head around it. I can't fathom how building like this is accomplished. The WIP pictures make clear how it's suspended on one paw, but they don't explain how this can be done. I'm impressed. I understand the logic of keeping the BG flaws in to emphasize the single point of contact, but this thing deserves to be properly photographed.
It's a mechanical kinda morning. This this is beautiful, from the color scheme to the details. I have to admit, I thought this was a render at first, the photography is so flawless. Nice work all around legorobo.
This thing defies the eyes! I've never seen robotics and greeblies blended so seamlessly. Check out those legs! It's like Gundam meets ED209 and a little Borg cube thrown in for flavor, amazing. The background is a bit distracting, it almost looks like a grainy photo but it's actually textured.
I've had plenty of friends try and get me into Dr. Who, and try as I might, I've never been able to get into it. I've also never been able to understand how carwash vacuums equipped with plungers are scary. But there's no doubting their popularity, and these renditions by LegoAvon are spot on.
Out in the open sea lies the Island of Ascilly, and it's lovely. I love the arched windows, the details on the tower and irregular roofing. So much detail in a relatively small castle. A great build by The /\rchitect.
This scene from Simon S. is gorgeous. I like to think when I get caught in a temporal rift or wormhole and find myself transported back in time to the middle ages I will end up in a place like this. Where I will use my mad computer skills to convince the locals I'm a wizard and get free bread and stuff.
