Ready

I don't know who this guy is, in fact I don't even know it's a guy. I don't know where he or she is, or what they're doing. But the title of this pic is "I AM READY", and I have to agree, whoever it is they do look ready indeed, ready for anything. Unless that is of course we're talking about showering, then I don't think that helmet is going to be very compatible with shampooing. Or brunch, this uniform would not be very comfortable for dining on copious amounts of shrimp at a buffet. Or playing Wii Bowling...

A Whole Lot Of Harry Potter MOCs

Taking on a build-a-day challenge is not for the faint-hearted. I could never do this, not without some sort of benefactor sponsorship and a lot of help with all the other tasks of running BrickNerd. But builders marcu44 and 'rolli are just crazy (crazy talented) enough to take this challenge on. Last month marcu44 succeeded in rolling out 27 awesome MOCs based on Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (which I failed to cover, I have no excuse) and this month his friend 'rolli is attempting a build a day for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. The effort, detail and caliber of all these MOCs can be described as nothing less than magical. The question is, who is going to step up for Prisoner of Azkaban, are you up to the challenge?

NCS Landspeeder

How can you go wrong mashing up classic space and Star Wars? Add a touch of greebly goodness and you've got this, a neo classic space landspeeder. Now your space guys can scoot around the planet surface in style and with some speed. Rover shmover, we're going repulsorlift!

This MOC Rocks My World

I was going to begin this post with a notion about being lucky I've never had to be hooked up to one of these things. Then I realized it's seismograph, not a polygraph. And really, I'm pretty honest, almost to a fault (see what I did there?). Then again, I wouldn't mind getting connected to this, if for not other reason than to get a good long close look in person at this fantastic MOC by kosbrick.

Batman v Superman

I saw BvS opening day, and it was pretty disappointing. But then again I always thought the concept was a bit silly, or I wouldn't have made my own version. But that doesn't mean I don't like the characters any less, and I certainly dig this MOC by cid1943. The split screen effect here with daylight Metropolis and the man of steel on one side and dark Gotham and the dark knight on the other is super effective.

Coat Of Arms

All self respecting families have a coat of arms. In this case it's the heraldry of Uridius Dratiphe by builder Robert4168/Garmadon. The gauntlet represents strength, the scales represent justice, the anvil (which is really hard to see) represents honor, the arrows represent readiness for war and the build represents mad skills with the bricks.

Power Of The Dark Side

This is one of the coolest Star Wars MOCs I've seen in a long time. Builder LEGO 7 shows us his interpretation of the dark lord himself Darth Vader. The combination of sculptural form, minifig action, micro scale ships and iconic imagery makes this almost comic-like, and I love it. It's a feast for the eyes and my nerdy heart.

Moby Dick

I have a confession to make, I've never read Moby Dick. I mean, I know the basic plot, and some of the characters, but I've never read it. But that doesn't diminish my appreciation for this MOC by Vitreolum. The contouring of the whale and the delicate balance of it make this a real eye-popper. I have another confession to make, I always found it amusing as a kid to be able to say the name of the book without fear of repercussions, it was also fun to talk about Hoover Dam and Shitzus.

Desert Architexture

The amount of texture on this amazing MOC by Luis Baixinho is staggering! Described as Byblios, the house of knowledge at the centre of the Ahridus Desert in Elgarvel, it really oozes mysticism. I can imagine weary pilgrims traveling miles through sandstorms to reach this place. I hope it has a decent cafe inside!

The Day The Earth Got Invaded By War Robots From Mars!

Looking like a cross between Marvin The Martian and The Terminator, this Tin Soilder by Karf Oohlu is both charming and menacing at the same time. from his radar dish to his oversized ray gun (which is excellent in its own right) he looks like something from a 1950's B Movie. 

Architectural Blues

To me, some modern buildings look like they were designed on a Friday afternoon, in the dark,  just before the rush out the door and down the road to the pub! Some, on the other hand have style, grace and presence. This Modern Apartment block by Lisqr has a lot of style indeed. lots of shiny blue walls and neat details such as the railings, but realistic and simple too. This wouldn't look out of place in an Architects studio

Black Coupe Hotrod

This is a seriously sweet hotrod from builder sm 01. The design is pretty classic model-T, with lots of flair, like the checkerboard firewall and detailed engine. But what's not immediately evident is the working door handles, adjustable rear suspension, mechanized engine and retractable license plate. Oh, and did I mention it's remote controlled too? Check out the video for all the working action.

Black Iron Giant

This colossal mech by builder Moko would be impressive enough as a static model. The color scheme, contours, detail and proportions are outstanding, but what blows my mind is how posable it is. There are action figures on the market that have nowhere near this range of motion. Usually for this flexibility there has to be serious compromises at joint density, and the figure tends to look weak at the joints, but this guy is super beefy.

Iron Mountain Guardians

One of the things I love about Iron Builder is the out-of-the-box thinking that it inevitably inspires. I've heard stories of builders carrying the part in their pocket for the entire month, continually aware of it, continually looking for that spark. Sure you or I look at that part and say "handle" or maybe "plumbing". But 2 Much Caffeine looks at it and says "classic Chinese dragon whiskers", brilliant.

E-41 Skyclipper

King of Sky-fi JonHall18 is back with another brilliant aircraft, and she's a beauty. I suppose if you're fast enough and have enough firepower you don't have to worry about being somewhat conspicuous, and they don't call this The Yellow Peril for nothing. And judging by the 10 X's below the cockpit, this pilot is no one to mess with.

Al's Space Diner

You really can't go wrong with a 50's style diner aesthetic, even in space. Who could resist stopping here for some lunch and a milkshake? Sure you might need to get to some distant system for a intergalactic meeting or something, but do you really want to do it on an empty stomach? Drop by Al's Space Diner by Priovit70 and grab some grub. Great, now I'm craving a hot dog.

Turnstiles

Yes, they're technically gates, but everyone still calls them turnstiles. And if you're in a city with a train or tube, you probably have a card in your wallet right now. Builder kosbrick repurposes the paint roller handle seed part of this month's Iron Builder as gates, and now the minifig population can get to work.

Giger's Workshop

You just never know what the seed of inspiration will be. Sometimes it's a figure, sometimes it's a new way of connecting, sometimes it's a new part. Builder Grantmasters thought Starlord's weapon looked sort of like the derelict ship in Alien, and an entire MOC evolved around it. Now it's a ship in the middle of H.R. Giger's workshop, and it's a detailed, NPU eye feast.

ROM: Spaceknight

So how long before we see a ROM movie from Marvel? If Guardians of the Galaxy can become a thing, why not ROM? Sure it's a comic inspired by a terrible toy that ended up being way more cool than said toy deserved. But with all the super heroes movies coming out, this guy could be a thing too. Until then we can admire this bust by SPARKART!

Matter Of Life And Death

Builders LinoM and rabidnovaracer have teamed up for March's LUGnuts challenge "Matter of life and death" to bring us two vehicles two vehicles designed for a critical moment in life, namely the potential end of it. Should disaster strike you might find yourself in the Flatline Ford, racing to the hospital. But if things shouldn't go too well you might end up in the Hells Bells Hearse. Either way you're traveling in style.
