Brickworld or bust!
/Like a scene out of The LEGO Movie Knights, Princesses, Cops, Robbers, Pirates, Superheroes, Friends, Ninjas, Jedi and more will converge upon one location to celebrate the one thing they all have in common - a love for LEGO. Hundreds of AFOLs and TFOLs have spent countless hours putting together their LEGO creations to share with the thousands of visitors who will marvel over their mastery.
Next week Wednesday through Sunday is the BrickWorld: Chicago convention and BrickNerd will be there blogging live about the best MOCs. Come find me (Philip) at the Knight’s Forest Castle MOC display to pick up some BrickNerd swag while it lasts!
I hope to see you there!
The Wait Is Over!
/Yes Ghostbusters fans the wait is over, LEGO Ideas 21108 Ghostbusters is now available at LEGO! I've had the pleasure of building this set and it's one of my favorites of recent years. To get yours follow these links and you'll not only get a phenomenal set, you'll support BrickNerd.
And if you have any doubt the set is awesome, have a peek at either the live build (real-time) or the brief I posted on my YouTube channel.
The Part Challenge
/This is a two part post. The first order of business to attend to is this fantastic MOC by Peteris Sprogis. Brick built lettering can be difficult, especially if you want some panache to it, but Peteris pulls it off beautifully. Although it is important to point out that this is the second iteration of this MOC, because sometimes a "P" can look an awful lot like an "F".
The second order of business is to bring up what this MOC is actually promoting. It's a Flickr group called, you guessed it, Part Challenge. It's sort of like Iron Builder for the rest of us. Check it out and get building!
Free Wheelin'
/Ultimate Design Bricks has released a free ( ! ) LEGO book about wheels. And not just any wheels, but highly customizable and clever wheels in a range of sizes. You can download the book on his website. There's also tutorial videos and more.
How The LEGO Movie Should Have Ended
/Last month BrickNerd Studios was lucky enough to have stop motion animator Kevin Ulrich help us out on Beyond The Brick: A LEGO Brickumentary. Sharp eyed viewers might have spotted him in this video of our biggest setup (he's the one wearing glasses). Well the team at How It Should Have Ended recruited him as well, and who better to determine how The LEGO Movie *should* have ended?
Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Batman!
/KAPOW! Check out this awesome Batmobile Cuusoo project of the classic 60's Batman. I can't decide what I love the most about this, that it's classic Adam West campiness, the design itself or the fact that it all started with a dad building a Batmobile for his daughter so Robin could ride along too. Regardless I want one, and if you want one too let's all support this project and make it a reality!
Tomorrow!
/Preparations are underway for the BrickNerd Live Build - Epic Edition. Tune in tomorrow and watch me and a few friends and surprise guests build the LEGO Star Wars Jawa Sandcrawler live from BrickNerd Studios.
Building starts at noon PST. Hope to see you there!

Benny Stardust and Brick In The Wall now gone.
/LEGO fan, snarky humor and awesome art liking t-shirt wearers take notice, the new Tee Fury shirts are now available. Get yours now because they won't last!
UPDATE: Told you they wouldn't last. Apologies for the semi-broken link, but it doesn't matter any more, they're gone!
Benny Stardust VS Brick In The Wall - Tomorrow!
/I was just asked at Starbucks the other day where I got my shirt, and of course the answer was "Tee Fury" (seems like it always is). Well, Tee Fury is at it again tomorrow, and you can score yourself one of these fine examples of textile awesomeness. Stay tuned for the link!
Working LEGO Keyboard
/This is pretty damn cool. A functioning computer keyboard build almost entirely of LEGO. The only parts that are non brick are the membrane and cable. Check out the video, it's really cool.
Thanks for the head's up James
You Need This Tee
/Why are you reading this? Didn't you see the title? Go get this tee! No really, stop reading and go. Why are you still here? You think this is funny? Are you waiting for something funny? OK fine, Why did the baby cross the road? It was duct taped to the chicken...there, now go!

Update: Tee Fury has moved on to the next shirt, as is their way.
We Can Build It!
/I get asked all the time "Where did you get that shirt?" and the response quite often is "Tee Fury" (in fact, I'm wearing one as I type this, and I got a new one in the mail today). Well my friends at Tee Fury wanted to let me and all of you know that tomorrow you can grab this awesome new design. Stay tuned for the link and score a sweet shirt!
Ecto-1 Unveiled At ToyFair
/After my disappointment with the Back To The Future Delorean I have to admit I was a little leery when this set was announced. Especially considering Brent Waller's fantastic original design. But I'm very happy to see that it has exceeded my expectations, and the set is only going to set me back $49.99, sweet!
