Collectible Minifigures Series 11
/There has been images floating around for weeks, but it's finally official. LEGO has announced series 11 of their wildly popular collectible Minifigures line. My personal favorite is the Island Warrior, but the Welder is a close second. Now if I could actually get them locally...

BrickFair VA
/BrickFair is go!
The AFOLs have gathered and setup is in the works. If you're going to be in the Chantilly VA area this weekend swing by the Dulles Expo Center and check out some amazing LEGO creations by very talented builders.
Qach Batlh!
/OK, tell the truth, you glanced at this pic and thought for one fleeting, optimistic moment it might be an official UCS set didn't you? This is a seriously big, beautiful ship from ~The Steads~. I really wish LEGO would have gotten the rights to Star Trek, instead of a certain other brand of bricks. Maybe then we would have gotten something this cool.
A-37B Marauder
/Jon Hall knows his way around aircraft. His latest offering blends futuristic forms and vintage styling cues. That camo is brilliant. Check out the dual 8 barrel guns on the front of this thing, and cockpit is great.
A Matter Of Light And Depth
/Time for another photography post. This picture grabbed my attention while scrolling through Flickr. Not because of the elaborate or clever build, but because of the photography. I can't emphasize enough the importance of taking good pictures of your work. I love the depth of field and light blooming in this shot, as well as the lens flare. I know it may all be happy accident, but when all the elements drop into place like this, the results are awesome.
Tiny, Massive Structures
/Flickr newcomer Yo-Sub Joo unleashed a slew of pictures recently, some of them new and some dating back a bit. These micro scale builds caught my eye. They're ridiculously clean, like architectural models. Just beautiful.
The Big Apple Diner
/Here at BrickNerd we look back from time to time, in this case back to the golden age of diners. I've always had a fondness for the "greasy spoon". In my home town we had "Hi, Let's Eat", and even though it's a different restaurant now, they kept the old sign. This MOC from Ɲ. is packed with detail and charm. Check out that interior!
McMOTE
/Tyler's E-MOTE seems to have really struck a chord, knock-offs & homages are starting to appear all over the place. This one by Sean & Steph Mayo is inspired by both E-MOTE and everyone's favorite restaurant to hate, McDonalds. Ba ba ba ba ba, I'm lovin' it.
Winners!
/Thanks to the scientific minds behind numbergenerator.org and my mad counting and scrolling skillz I can now announce the Nerdly winners! Congratulations to:
Flickr: LinoM
Facebook: Chris McVeigh
Twitter: @johnmknight
Thank you all for entering, and keep your eyes peeled for the next contest (coming soon, get ready to build!)
UPDATE! It escaped my bleary eyed attention as I figured out the winners at Starbucks this morning but both Chris and Lino are actually in my last video. I know that has to look highly suspicious but please believe me, they were randomly picked. (next time I'll shoot video of the draw, but not at Starbucks)
Crossbow Fighter-Bomber
/More tributes to Nnenn continue to show up, like this nifty little craft by Doctor Mobius. The color scheme on this is great, very eye-catching. My favorite details are the checkerboards on one size with a subtle asymmetry on the other side and the little 1x1 round tiles on the sides. It's small attentions to detail like this that separate a good MOC from a great MOC.
Space Taxis
/Mark Stafford is no stranger to space, but even those completely familiar with their surroundings need a ride every once in a while. Enter Space Taxis, a new group on Flickr. Mark invites us all to build a taxi, or limo, or whatever. So who's going to add the first pedicab?
Bravest Warriors Are Brave
/Inspired by Iain Heath's Beth, Lego Junkie brings us Chris. They are destined to be together at BrickCon 2013. But now that we have Beth, Chris and Catbug, it's up to you intrepid builders to assemble the rest of the cast...go!
SPLAT-AT
/This is freaking awesome. I actually laughed out loud when I saw it. The captured action is brilliant, check out the troopers tumbling out and the displaced snow shooting away from the head. Jim Walshe posted this but did not create it. Will the builder please step up?
UPDATE! We now know who the builder is, Daft Vader1 has come forward. Not only that, there's plenty more pictures of this awesome MOC.
Last Day To Enter!
/Today is the last day you can enter to win a Nerdly! Three lucky winners are going to get a Nerdly desktop model. For more details click here!
Bombur
/As we ramp up to the release of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug I'm sure we'll see plenty Tolkien inspired MOCs, like this spectacular rendition of Bombur. An all studs out build can add tons of texture, as you can see. Nice work Pate-keetongu.
