Being both a big fan of Vitreolum the Lego builder and The Wicker Man the original version ( I won't be "Cagey" about it but I didn't really rate the remake) I couldn't pass this build by and had to use it for my first blog here on Bricknerd. It's the sixth in a series of Horror vignettes one of which Tommy blogged a couple of months back and each one has been a masterpiece I'm 100% sure we shouldn't burn this one.
Stop the presses! Batten down the hatches! Don't look at the trap! Bayaba Bigfoot! I actually finished an episode. This one features the Ghostbusters Headquarters and BRIKBOOK. Enjoy!
With the imminent launch of 'Angry Birds the movie' what better than an Angry Birds MOC?! Builder Chubbybots pulls it together with a great back story that Tony Stark has been hired by the Birds to help them defeat those naughty Pigs, and has designed the awesome creation 'Birdronica Mark 1'. This build incorporates one of the minfigs from the LEGO Angry Birds sets as the driving force behind the bird bot. Those Pigs better run home!

Builder Lu Sim continues to perfect his mech building skills modular concept with this upgrade of the A/B type Mech Wars reFrame. The idea is to establish a sound armature substructure and add components and upgrades. It makes for a continually evolving design, and some seriously cool mechs. Check out his blog for more info.
This just in...Adam Savage of Mythbusters fame may have just exited his "dark ages". He was so taken by JK Brickworks' Sisyphus kinetic sculpture that he contacted Jason to get his own. He and Norm then built it on the online series Adam Savage's One Day Builds (an awesome series for you makers and tinkerers out there). Although I sort of understand their knolling organization, it's a bit too OCD even for me and it's a little amusing to watch it bite them in the butt during the build. The best part of this is watching Adam's genuine giddiness as it slowly takes shape.
I'm very proud to have played a small role in bringing this to life. This is the result of small group of talented artists called The Animators Collective working very hard for just a few short weeks. Two of the shots were completed here at BrickNerd Studios, and we contributed several elements for use in other shots. Check out the breakdown below to see just what went into the 28 frames of the bacta tank shot alone.
If I had to choose a single word to describe Disney's venerable anti hero and the original angry bird Donald Duck, it would be "flappable". Not only is it sort of a fun play on words, even if Donald doesn't technically have wings, but we all know what a ticking time bomb of fury he is. This version by Djokson pretty much nails that side of his character.
Builder lingonkart shows us how to rock out with our MOC out with this awesome guitar shredding little lady. The pose-ability and style of this MOC is super compelling, you just want to know more about her the moment you see her. I also want to hear what she's playing, I'm certain it's rockin'.
Gotta love this. Builder Legohaulic brings us the intrepid heroes of The Force Awakens in a fun, charismatic way. Poe, Rey, Finn and BB-8 are all instantly recognizable and just oozing with character. I bet this form factor would be fun to animate with, hmmm...

Do you think it might have undermined his menace slightly if Darth Vader's lightsaber was as cute and almost chibi as this version by KOSbrick? It has an appealing chunky, stumpy and rounded feel that the real one lacks, and I'm totally ok with it. Check out the video for more views.
As I begin Star Wars day 2016, this was one of the first images I saw on Flickr. Builder cmaddison was going for a retro stylistic 70's graphic look but isn't sure he succeeded. I can tell you Chris, you totally did. It's got an excellent retro feel and I recognized it instantly. My first reaction was "ohh", then a smile, then John Williams music in my head.

You may have wondered what happened after the events on Pandora in the movie Avatar. Well, here's a possible scenario not only in story, but in a jaw-dropping diorama of significant scale. Builder The Steads imagines a future where after promising to have no military presence and to be very good (really Na'avi, don't trust humans, we're really no good) humans were allowed to return and do a little mining. I am not ashamed to admit I have this track on my iPod. I'm also not ashamed to admit I really dig this MOC by madoruk.
Rotary engines have always fascinated me. I understand the principal, but something as complicated as a four cycle engine is difficult enough to wrap your head around, now make it spin. But they certainly are lovely to look at, especially this one by Karf Oohlu.
You kids with your multi-cores, iPhones and fancy color computers, you don't know the struggle. You haven't lived until you've installed a program from 15 floppy disks, or accidentally erased your new game by putting your headphones down on the tape, and don't get me started on modems...

Here at BrickNerd we like to look back from time to time, and to Gotham. I somehow missed this awesome Burton Batmobile by Riskjockey last year, and it's time to correct that oversight. I've always been a big fan of this particular Batmobile. It's got flash, but not too much, it's got menace, but just enough to scare the bad guys, and it's got style.
Rey kicked much ass in The Force Awakens, and most of it didn't require the use of a blaster. But it was a nice moment when Han handed her this blaster and she remarks "I think I can handle myself" to which he replies "I know, that's why I'm giving it to you". This version by Lego Admiral captures it's look and feel pretty perfectly.
