Excela Nova Aura

Builder Pate Keetongu has never played the game Shining Resonance, but that didn't stop him from being inspired to build based on it's concept art. And despite having never even heard of the game, I'm inspired to blog this beautiful MOC. I know a lose a few nerd cred points for having such poor gaming knowledge, but when you're as busy as I am, there's not much time for gaming. Check out the flowing forms of this lovely lady, the clever part use, the pose and sense of motion. Absolutely gorgeous.

Roadhog & Mercy

That title sounds a bit like an 80's cop show, or maybe two private investigators working in an exotic locale, but it's actually two new Overwatch inspired MOCs from Tim Schwalfenberg. This and a handful of other recent games have been a huge design inspiration for a great many builders, and it's easy to see why. This game has so many unique and colorful characters you can't help but want to surround yourself with them. And what better way than some masterfully done character MOCs?

Ronin Titan

I still haven't played Titanfall, nor am I likely too, unless it somehow ends up on Wii U (yeah, I finally got one of those), and even then, my gaming time is really limited. But that doesn't mean I can't appreciate all the cool stuff from the game. Take this Ronin Titan mech by Nick Brick for instance, no idea what it does or who's side it's on, but I dig it.

Furious Fowl

I don't really have anything against Angry Birds, well, mostly. I actually own the Star Wars version of the game (of course I do) and I'm pretty terrible at it. When I heard they were making a movie, well I just sighed, for Hollywood is officially out of ideas. I haven't seen it, and probably won't, but that doesn't diminish my appreciation of this brilliant micro build by vitreolum. There's a sense of story here, of contemplation, of calm before the storm. And I'm saying this about a little MOC based on a movie I haven't seen based on a silly game that's 7 years old...impressive.

Angry Birds

Worms

I was just thinking about this game a couple days ago, and thinking "gee, that would make a cool set of MOCs". Well, builder SuckMyBrick clearly heard my wish and granted it (now I'm thinking about a Toyota Tacoma TRD in grey BTW, with the bed full of cash). I actually had a friend that worked on this game, the only thing more fun than playing it was hearing stories from the studio that made it.

Kirika Towa Alma

As if it isn't always a bit awkward commenting on a character I don't recognize from a game or film I haven't seen, this goes one step further. It would appear that builder Pate-keetongu based this on concept art for a game he's never played, so we're both sorta in the dark. I know a good character build when I see it though, and this one is gorgeous.

Link

I admit I'm not much of a gamer. Not from lack of enthusiasm or interest, but time (and skill, I'm pretty bad). But there's one game character that gets a squee out of me every time, and when I saw this brilliant Link from Legend of Zelda by builder NKubate I'm not ashamed to admit a sharp inhale of breath and an eye pop. This is by far one of the best renditions of Link I've ever seen, and it makes my nerd heart go pitter patter.

Mack & Joule

I feel slightly better for not recognizing these characters, being as the game they come from, ReCore, isn't even out yet. But judging by the trailer from E3, it's going to be pretty sweet. And judging from these awesome MOCs by Nick Brick, he's going to be playing it. This is Mack and Joule, I can't tell you much about them, but they look just as cool as the game does.

Abernathy Farm

The Fallout series and world has always intrigued me. I've often wondered what a world after a large extinction level event would look like and the Fallout series of games offers just such a window into that world. WookieeWarrior (how does he build with such large furry hands?!) has created a very authentic vignette of the Abernathy farm for us to stare at and attempt to find all the little details that go along with a ruined world.

Borderlands 2 Collaborative

Collaborative builds, especially on this scale, are hard to cover and do justice to the MOCs. After months of work, the builder group GamerLUG (Nick Brick, Lego Junkie, Si-MOCsDR.ChurchMasked BuilderAlec_DEdgelessAbyss) combined forces to present a show stopping and trophy winning Borderlands 2 display. As much as I'd like to feature every individual MOC, there's just not enough time, so I'll invite you to visit all these builders' individual Flickr streams and check out the video.

Bioshock Skyhook

This MOC by builder Imagine™ is pretty insane. I haven't played Bioshock, so I have no frame of reference here, but this is a really wild and wacky weapon. And as if just the styling and build wasn't impressive enough, this thing is motorized! Check out the video clip to see it in action, it's pretty mind-blowing (and just a little terrifying).

D.Va's Proverbial Pretty Pink Pistol

Builder Nick Brick is back with another game inspired weapon. This time it's from the game Overwatch, and the character D.Va. It's her goto weapon when she's outside her mech. Yes, it's pink. Yes, it has a bunny dangle. Yes, she's a girl. Yes, she'll stomp you into the ground you small-minded chauvinistic simpleton.

Winston

Overwatch mania continues to sweep the world, and the AFOL community. I actually recognize this beast of a character, which is pretty unusual for me these days. When we picked up our preordered copy of the game at GameStop my son got a figure of this guy, a jet pack sporting gorilla named Winston. By the way, any day you can type the sentence "jet pack sporting gorilla" is a good day.

Bastion & Reinhardt

Overwatch mania continues to sweep the world, and AFOLs are clearly not immune. Builder Si-MOCs brings us not one but two characters from the phenomenally popular Blizzard game. And of course I still haven't seen anything from it. But judging from all the yelling in the back of the house it's exciting and/or frustrating. And based on the smell back there, it's addicting too.

Tava's Beak

Elder Scrolls seems to be a deep source of inspiration for many builders. It's amazing to me how arts cross-pollinate and the lines blur sometimes. Builder Xenomurphy found inspiration in Tava's Beak, and the results are stunning. The curved, sloping shoreline and bank makes for an excellent foundation, but the sculpted forms of the bird head are the real show-stopper here.

Tracer

A great deal of time and energy is being expended towards the new game Overwatch at my house these days. Not by me of course (like I have time to play games) but both my boys are into it and have barely left their rooms for over a week. I consulted with one of my experts and discovered this swift little vixen is pretty much the face of Overwatch, and if you're the lumbering armored type, good luck hitting her, she's quick. Nice build One More Brick.

The Surrealistic Adventure That Will Become Your World

I feel very fortunate to grow up when I did. I witnessed the 80's first hand (they were rad), saw the transition from air to cable, then from analog to digital, and experienced the personal computer revolution. I was also there for one of the most intriguing phenomenons of early PC gaming, Myst. Myst was like no game before it, and had graphics and animation that absolutely rocked the gaming world. It was immersive, it was rich, it was addicting and it was fun. This outstanding MOC by Vitreolum makes me want to revisit that world, which I can now do with a device that fits in my pocket (mind blowing)... I witnessed that revolution too.
