To The Gate!

These poor knights do not look like they'll be celebrating Christmas any time soon. . .  Builder Cab ~ has his hands full with a siege at his front gate.  There are many iconic weapons of war throughout history.  Some crafts were massive, some were simpler and smaller, but served an equal importance just the same.  This particular scene is a clean and lively build (well, except for the occasional arrow and dead soldier), while still portraying the urgency of the invading soldiers, and those defending their keep.  I'm seeing clean castle walls like this less and less lately, so this was a pleasant castle creation to witness.  Hopefully these soldiers can come to some sort of truce before the holiday. . .

A Very Marvel Christmas To You

Action!  Joy!  Easter eggs!  Bright colors!  Good food!  Superheroes!  This is how a true Marvel Christmas should be done, which is exactly what Milan Sekiz did!  It appears that the Avengers and the Guardians have gotten a crossover sooner than expected.  Personally, I would watch a Christmas special with all of these characters uniting for the holidays, but that's just me.  There are many little details in this creation, so make sure to zoom in and take a closer look!  You may find some familiar items decorating their tree. . .

We Wish You A Scary Christmas

The Nightmare Before Christmas is now considered a classic, and a yearly tradition that lasts the entire last part of every year since it spans Halloween to Christmas. I remember seeing the film in the theater, back when Disney had no confidence in it, and we were absolutely blown away with every aspect of it. I am similarly blown away with this MOC by Cesbrick. I must admit when I first saw it, I didn't think it was LEGO, or at least Jack wasn't, but he is. Every aspect of this is spooky good!

Alguroran

It's difficult to capture "cold" in photos. Ask anyone who's photographed in chilly environments and they'll tell you "it was colder than it looks". it's even more difficult to make something that is decidedly not cold, look cold. But builder 'Ecclesiastes has done exactly that with this frigid stronghold. Makes me shiver just looking at it.

The Turbo Terrific

Perhaps no other car in Wacky Races history has suffered as much as The Turbo Terrific. It was pretty much destroyed in every episode, it was a running gag, and you could always depend on it being pretty spectacular. Although in overall standings driver Peter Perfect actually won four times, all I remember is his car falling to pieces, a lot. Perhaps this LEGO version by redfern1950s will stay together.

Rebel Attack Looming

Graham Gidman used the LEGO Group's latest AT-ST design in a scene from the Rogue One trailers.  Since the movie released, we know we will be seeing many more Rogue One creations popping up across the internet.  This particular building really impressed me, and is one of my favorite Star Wars buildings seen in LEGO.  The different angles executed are seamless, creating a futuristic architecture style.  The new recruits to the Rebel Alliance seem to be preparing to take on the walker.  Will they prevail?!

We are also very concerned about the noise problem this will pose, and our centuries old policy of silent nights. We feel that this is a irresponsible and reckless waste of resources, especially with the rising need to counter polar cap shrinkage. Your lead developer, Mr. Frost, is incredibly talented, and we feel his energies should be focused elsewhere.

We implore you to stop development immediately. We will not stand for such activity and you can consider this a formal grievance.

Christmas Steam Train

It's power and beauty in one vehicle, the steam train. This one by vir-a-cocha has another defining character, holiday cheer. I can think of no better way to get a huge Christmas tree delivered than by this impressive throw back to the golden age of rail.

Bioshock: The Collection

If you spent this long as a gamer and haven't played any of the Bioshock games, I am both disappointed in your life decisions but also really excited for you...why? Because Bioshock: The Collection was recently released for new gen consoles and contains all three amazing games, so really what are you waiting for?

If you need any more incentive to stop what you're doing and go out and buy the trilogy right now, (Mister real life Booker himself) Imagine Rigney has once again blessed us with this masterpiece of nostalgia. Believe it or not this isn't even the finished piece! Imagine has a few rooms to fill with some of the game scenes and is willing to take suggestions! His "bigger and better" full Rapture even lights up, and my favorite part of course has to be the micro Columbia on top! Check out his flickr for full amazing photos! 

Wonders of the Imagination

Builder Delayice has posted a couple of very colorful and bright creations that I can't get enough of! The first one is called Whale Island and is such an interesting idea, the second is called Maze Entrance and has some really fun techniques and details! Both creations give off such mystery, it leaves you wanting to know the story behind them. Check them out!

Hands

This evocative hands sculpture by builder timofey_tkachev made me catch my breath. I actually got goosebumps when I first viewed it. Perhaps it's the lifetime of making that has instilled a reverence for hands, my own included. They are my life, my livelihood, my tools. The pose, fluidity, lighting and construction of this MOC is awe inspiring.

Decorating For Christmas

BrickNerd's very own Nick Sweetman spends a little time every holiday season to make some scenes worthy of Christmas cards (in fact, they become cards courtesy of RedBubble). And with Christmas less than a week away, carols in the background and a chill in the air, I'm feeling pretty darn ready for Santa to visit, and these scenes just add to the cheer and excitement. C'mon December 25th!

Behemoth

Can you imagine yourself on a futuristic battlefield, adrenaline pumping after a small exchange with an enemy mech and exhausted from a long war, just to see this thing bearing down on you? Obviously with insanely superior firepower and size advantage, camouflage is completely optional. In fact this one by Moko says "Hey guys! Check me out! I'm coming to destroy you now!" 

Forbidding Castle

The color palette on this castle diorama by builder ZCerberus is a little misleading. The warm, inviting colors of an almost fall-like setting draw you in, welcoming you. Then you take a closer look and realize this is not a friendly place, not friendly at all. The decrepit aging of the castle is really well done, with what looks like centuries of retrofits and kludged repairs. And I don't know what's going on in the water there, but I don't recommend fishing.

Remnants. . .

There is so much in the Star Wars universe that we don't know.  Battles, vehicles, characters, abilities, and weapons are just a few pieces of the unknown portion of the story.  In this beautifully depicted model, Sanellukovic represented a crashed Lambda-class T-4a Imperial Shuttle that is being swallowed by the terrain of this forest moon (or planet).  Even though the craft is partially destroyed, it's still recognizable as the iconic vessel used by many high-ranking members of the Galactic Empire.  There are so many unanswered questions through this single photograph.  What happened to the crew?  Why did this ship crash?  This is a Star Wars MOC that I'd like to see a short story written about in the future.  Lucasfilm?  Hello???

The Roger Young

I'll probably lose a little nerd cred for this, but I'm not a Starship Troopers fan. I found it silly and tedious. It's too hard to take the characters seriously despite the challenge placed before them, and I just wasn't buying Doogie Howser as a Colonel. I should probably give it another view, it's been years, maybe I'll see something I didn't see before. I will say the visual effects were outstanding though, and I dig the ship designs. Like this version of the Roger Young by builder Riskjockey. You can practically hear the rumble of the engines.

East Meets East

Capturing the human form in any artistic medium is always a challenge.  But Grantmasters has done just that with these two armed foes.  Their poses, right out of a martial arts movie, convey the tension before a sudden burst of controlled fury, most likely accompanied by a taunt about the opponent's questionable parentage.   Dubbed into English, of course. 

Harry Potter Ornaments

This is fun. When someone says "Christmas" you may not be inclined to think of Harry Potter immediately. But the holiday has featured pretty prominently in the books (c'mon, the invisibility cloak was pretty much the best present ever), so why not a little reminder on the tree? Builder rolli has assembled these absolutely charming miniature scenes from throughout the series. There's a key in the description on Flickr, but I'd recommend puzzling them out first, they're SO good!

More From Westeros

Builder Legopard is back with a couple more offerings inspired by the opening titles of Game of Thrones. First up is Castle Black, home of the Night's Watch, defenders of the wall. They've been guarding the north so long they barely remember what they're guarding it from. And next is King's Landing, where you go to sit on the most powerful throne in Westeros, and probably get killed shortly after.

When The Weather Outside Is Frightful....

....But the fire is so delightful, and since we've no place to go, build LEGO! Build LEGO! Build LEGO! Maybe build a nice holiday-themed diorama, like this one by Firas Abu-Jaber. He's known best for his cars, but I've got a soft spot for LEGO penguins and the one he built here is just adorable.
