I recall seeing one of these in nearby shop years ago and wondered what it was. Now thanks to Robiwan_Kenobi I now know it's a traditional German Christmas decoration. This one is a 1:1 replica from the Ore mountains (Erzgebirge) region.

The countdown to Christmas continues, featuring the work of Seth Christie and his rendition of the Night Before Christmas. Tonight's photo set brings me right back to my childhood - I can remember trying to stay awake on Christmas Eve hoping to get a glimpse of Santa Claus, but inevitably passing out from sheer exhaustion. I don't think I ever dreamed of dancing sugarplums, though. What is a sugar plum, anyway?
I often find myself conflicted on graffiti. One the one hand I can't condone defacing property or vandalism, but I've also seen some incredible work by street artists. Lucky for me I can get behind this piece by Konix 100%, since it's brick-built. Well, some of it is built, I think a good portion of it falls under the category "arranged", but it's all a visual delight.
Chris McVeigh has a new Bricksketch, and it's here to ruin your Christmas. Has there ever been a better villain for the holidays? Sure in the end he turned out to be a softy, but for a while there Santa, cheer and joy didn't stand a chance.

Holy Shmoly! This is pretty amazing. The Super Awesome Micro Project is the brainchild of Steve Sammartino and and Raul Oaida. Steve is a marketing guru and Raul is, well, a genius. This crowd-sourced project has over a half million bricks, four orbital engines, 256 pistons and a top speed of about 15MPH. But enough blabber, watch the video!

It's no secret I'm a Nintendo fan, and who can resist Yoshi? This sculpture by Joshua Christenson is impressive from both the standpoint of technique and scale. It's not easy to nail a character this well using mostly brick at this scale, but look at it, it's perfect! Oh, and did I mention it's Yoshi?!?
Oh, the Holiday season. Gathering with friends and family, sharing some cheer, giving some gifts... and building some MOCS? At least that’s what Seth Christe is up to this Holiday. Seth is in the midst of an excellent retelling of the Night Before Christmas poem via LEGO brick and some clever photo editing. I highly recommend clicking through the entire series and checking his flickr feed each day until the story is complete.
A Plastic Infinity takes a stab at what he calls techno-abstract and the results are compelling and fascinating. The use of all the trans clear with just enough mechanics underneath creates a very cool effect. This is only the beginning too, I can't wait to see where this goes.
This is Joe Dalton, dastardly counterpart to Lucky Luke by Pistash. After all, what use is a good guy if you don't have a bad guy to fight him? It's like limiting your collection to all rebel Star Wars figures, you quickly realize there's not much to do.. This is an especially impressive build considering it's the first character Pistash has ever done.
Initially I was drawn to this build because of the excellent tile work and motorized dancing bear. Upon further inspection I discovered that it actually tells a wonderful story, as well. On one side of the MOC you have what appears to be a very silly Lion king being entertained by the peril of others. While on the flip side we join the Dragon Knights in the midst of their plan to assassinate that same king. This is creation is a great example of quality that we have come to expect from zCerberus over the years and look forward to many more.
Another mind-blowing entry into the e11even contest. This one comes from customBRICKS and is none other than Audrey II, the man-eating plant from Little Shop of Horrors. One of the best uses of the Ninjago snake I've ever seen.
Take heed upon the image of Squid Girl, for Hatsune shall face the floor in due time. It is skill and perseverance for Ochre Jelly, builder of bricks and quite white in the skin. The forces of photographic commodity are generous throughout & colors are rich in thought. Placement of protrusions to be not confused with nipples.
It's hard to decide if this little robot by rongYIREN is more cute or more intimidating. There's something about his stance and proportions that says "take me home and make me one of the family. But there's something about that huge gun and beady little eyes that says "I know where you live, and I'm going to kill your family".
This is adorable. Can you believe that bastard Comet called him names? Or how about Blitzen, shutting him out of the annual reindeer games? Or Cupid, laughing in his face? Well who's laughing now huh? Rudolph is on BrickNerd! Suck it Dancer!
Lifelites (brickmodder) kicked off a contest a few days back and the response so far has been great. The challenge is to see what you can build with just 11 pieces. I particularly like these entries from Kosmas Santosa. Simplicity at it's finest.

Meet Lucky Luke, a Belgian comic hero said to be "faster than his shadow". Not being up on my Belgian comics I've never heard of this character. But I don't need that knowledge to appreciate what a splendid build this is. Nice work 6kyubi6.
