This is a fun promotion. Autotrader UK has teamed up with Bright Bricks to let people win LEGO versions of their cars. Builder MortalSwordsman was challenged with building 6 cars in 6 days using 2,500 pieces each. Oh, and he only had 5 hours. A fun time-lapse video was done for each one as well. The Brothers Brick Chibi contest has got to be one of my favorite Flickr contests ever. Watching the daily additions of all these adorable vehicles has been an absolute pleasure. And there's SO many, they just keep coming and coming, and they're all so stinkin' cute!
Once again I find myself on the fringes of understanding an anime character. Through some quick searches I can see it has something to do with a festival? I dunno. What I do know is this build by Mike Dung is gorgeous. The contouring and building is excellent, but and posing and photography is what sets this apart. She evokes emotion and draws you in, and that's what characters should do.
This windmill MOC by César Soares is an absolute feast for the eyes. There is so much detail crammed into every square inch of this diorama that you can peruse for ages and keep finding wonderful little treats. I would point out my favorite details, but I simply can't decide. Don't take my word for it, click through and check out the high resolution pictures, it's worth it.
Some things do not change as you age, and I find that comforting. I still love a good cup of tea every morning. I've been listening to Kraftwerk since high school. Disneyland is still my favorite place on the planet. And when I was nine years old I wanted a landspeeder, still do. This is the coolest LEGO version I've seen, bravo Tiler.
I do believe that if I found myself a billionaire vigilante, with a penchant for gadgets and black everything (and sometimes very dark gray), I don't think I'd be too keen to have a spastic teenage sidekick. I know there's plenty of Robin fans out there, but builder captain smog is clearly not one of them.
My family was excited to see Big Hero 6 for many months. Back in July we visited some friends at Walt Disney Animation and were treated to just a glimpse of the film, we were impressed. So on opening day we were at the theater, and we were not disappointed. So this perfect rendition of Baymax from builder lisqr made me smile and think "I am not fast".
ToroLUG has done it again. With every new series of collectible Minifigs, the Toronto group does a collaborative build of tiny environments for all the figures. And as usual, they are brilliant, charming and wonderful. I think my personal favorite is the gamer.
I know it's not hunger, because I just had some amazing pot roast my wife made, but this drumstick by KOS Bricks looks delicious. Paired with some tasty fries (with ketchup, of course) and you've got a pretty yummy snack. Well, a pretty yummy MOC anyway
The Brothers Brick's chibi contest is generating a flood of exceptional MOCs. I don't know if it's the form factor, the builds themselves or the inspiration behind them, but scrolling through Flickr those days is just one squee after another.
Builder LoctiteGirl brings her usual flair for the unusual and stunning visual with this piece called Metropolis. The lighting is an especially cool element on this, as is the scale. I can tell by looking at these photos that this is one of those situations where pictures do not do it justice. But I don't think I'll be getting to Korea to see this in person any time soon. Sad face.

In a move that stunned the AFOL community, builder and pony proponent Iain Heath revealed his true form today. While most community members know Iain as a lanky bespectacled individual with a funny accent, he is in fact a small puddle of goo. Normally a dungeon dweller, Iain has gone to great lengths to disguise his appearance, even taking up residence in a lake side dwelling. "He had me fooled, but I had my suspicions when he tried to murder me that one time" said notable AFOL Guy Himber. Authorities have been notified of this strange occurrence, but as of this writing have taken no action. "It turns out being a small puddle of goo isn't illegal" said officer Harry Snapperorgans of the Seattle police department. "But we're keeping an eye on him just in case". When interviewed Iain could only emit strange squishy noises, but at an earlier date he mentioned an interest in a contest on Flickr. It has been suggested that this is the motivation for his reveal.
We featured nobu_tary's Y-3 Mech Walker a month ago, and at the time I was wondering what or who would be the pilot of such a wild and whimsical ride. Well, I'm afraid I still can't tell you if it's a who or a what, but as you can see, this pilot is rich with detail and character as well.
Confession time, I never watched Lost. As big of a fan of JJ Abrams as I am, I just never did. And every morning after it aired the conversations at work didn't make me want to tune in. Numbers, smoke monsters, hatches, polar bears? I didn't get it and didn't feel I was missing anything. So why post this Lost MOC by fujiia? Because it's slick, that's why.
Life has a way of detouring you from your hobbies, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. John Stephens, the builder of this awesome mech hasn't built much since his son was born, and I think that awesome. Never let work, hobbies or sports come between you and your family. That spreadsheet will still be there when you get back, but your son will only be young and want to play Hungry Hungry Hippos or stack Duplo for a fleetingly short time, never forget that.
Builder Moko is back with a lovely super deformed version of Yamato Armor Girl. Nothing says cute like pigtails, bangs, big eyes....and a cold steel, armor plated battle-ready gun battery. I'd like to say I knew what this was by just looking, but without Google I'm worthless.
Saturday mornings when I was a kid were all about cartoons. We would plop down in front of the console TV, polish off a box of Captain Crunch (while destroying the roof of our mouths) and watch all the greats, Bugs Bunny, Captain Caveman, Droopy, etc. etc. But of course one of our favorites was Scooby Doo and the gang, so this MOC by Bill Vollbrecht gives me a warm fuzzy.
Imagine if you will, some sixty million years ago, that a comet or asteroid did not wipe out the dinosaurs. Where would they be now in their evolution? Not the ones that turned into birds, they're useless, I mean some properly big, pointy toothed beasts. Would they have conquered space yet? Builder Adam Dodge has visualized this for us, and I think it would have been pretty impressive. The bigger question is would they have used a puny human to test their equipment in the early days?
