Siths On Stage

This shot by samsofy speaks to me. I've spent SO much time in the past 25 years on green screen stages, but never with a group of Sith lords. I love that this is lit, not only with some cleverly built Lifelites, but that there's a grip holding a reflector, classic. Now, what are we going to do about that heinous green spill on that helmet?

"There Is Only One Lord Of The Rings"

Don't you just hate it when an all-powerful supernatural being tries to take over the world? Meet Sauron, from Middle Earth. He's the tall, dark and ambitious type, with big plans for Mordor and whatever else realms he might just, you know, take by force with an orc army. This version by Legonardo Davidy doesn't pose much threat though, you could just pop that one ring off and poof, he's back in the parts bin.

It Goes Past 11

I feel like I am breaking some sort of unwritten rule by misquoting one movie to describe another unrelated movie for this post's title. But who cares when it fits so well, right? right?

Anywho, what a great build featuring one of the iconic scenes from Back To The Future? Seriously, this build has it all including many of the minor details from the original movie set such as the plutonium storage container easter egg.

Technic Snowspeeder

The Snowspeeder from The Empire Strikes Back is one of my favorite Star Wars ships. I've always found the faceted design and back-to-back cockpit really appealing. And it's just cool, ya know? This Technic design by drakmir rivals the UCS set for sheer awesomeness. Let's all back it on Cuusoo and get it into our hot little hands!

Bring On The Mundane!

Here's a pretty cool little contest going on Flickr. It started as just a private little contest on a small Facebook group, but now it belongs to the world! The concept is pretty simple, build a bit of hardware or a real world object. There's no prizes but who cares, it's awesome!

...While Visions Of Assassinations Danced In Their Heads

The holidays are over, but there's still some Christmas cheer to spread around. TBB's own Nannan Z. has conjured up a charming little story of Santa's visit to the Ninjago dojo. The sticker use here is brilliant, and I love a MOC that tells a story. One glance and you know everything that's going on here.

WALL-E and EVE

WALL-E is one of my favorite Pixar movies. Not only does it have a charming story with lovable characters and laughs as well as tugs on the heart strings. But one of the things I love the most about it was it was different and risky. And while I can't say this MOC by Legohaulic is risky, it has everything else going for it that the movie does, it's awesome.

Falkor

Carl Merriam is back with another entry for Iron Builder, and it's a nod to one of the greatest fantasy creatures in cinema history, Falkor from The NeverEnding Story. He captures the essence perfectly, from the shape of the eyes to the posing, it's fantastic.

The Wild Wild...Whoa

Will Smith's Wild Wild West was sadly mostly forgettable, but there were some memorable, if not fairly silly, shining moments. Arliss Loveless' giant steampunk tarantula was certainly a show-stopper, and I suspect this MOC by Imagine™ is going to have a similar impact wherever it's shown.

Sewing

Little known fact, I can sew. It's a dying art but I actually took sewing in home economics and had a grandmother that sewed. I've actually made my own costumes and repaired my family's clothing before. So not only is this miniland scale MOC by Pepa Quin charming and clever, it's of a real man, because real men sew.

Inspired Hemispheres

The creativity that a simple seed part inspires always amazes me. oLaF LM and 6kyubi6 have been squaring off in a challenge from BrickPirates. The part is the ball turret hemisphere and it's the catalyst of both these brilliant builds.

HARDnuary

There's an event going on, called HARDnuary, where builders have been challenged to build hardware and everyday items. I have a weakness for props and everyday items so it's just my speed. Unfortunately I know very little about this event, please comment if you know anything more. I'm digging these entries by Kosmas Santosa. Looking forward to seeing more.

"You're Dessssspicable"

When I was a kid we lived for Saturday morning. Somehow the affliction that made getting up early so difficult just the day before was lifted and we were up at the crack of dawn and planted in front of the TV set with a bowl of Cheerios. It was time for some Sid & Marty Croft, Tom & Jerry and of course some classic Warner Brothers cartoons. Pepa Quin masterfully captures one of the greatest moments in Daffy/Bugs confrontational history.

Explorer: Next Generation

Next to LEGO Castle, LEGO Space is definitely my favorite LEGO theme. There is just something about the theme that stirs my inner explorer, to "boldly go where no man has gone before". Exploration also has a dark side to it the fear of the unknown, just the smallest mistake could quickly turn into one's untimely death. 6kyubi6 has done a couple of nice things in this stellar build (no pun intended) to bring the feeling of impending doom to the forefront by presenting us with some unanswered questions. What happened to the red shirted explorer? Where is the rest of his crew? Why was his body left to rot? Why did he wear the token bad-luck red shirt?

Insertion

This is a pretty cool little art piece, simple and clean. But if you look closely there's some clever building going on here. I'm actually not entirely certain how the hand connects to the tile that's being inserted, and I find that compelling.

Teetering

I know just how this jester feels. This awesome MOC by Toltomeja is a perfect visual metaphor of my life these days. With home, family, BrickNerd, YouTube, building, designing, shooting, editing and social media all wobbling beneath me. And there I am, a clown trying to stay on top of it all.

BrickNerd Episode 201

Season 2 of BrickNerd has begun (yeah, just the next episode, but it's a new year so what the heck). This episode we look at the LEGO Master Builder Academy Adventure Designer and the LEGO Star Wars Sith Fury Class Interceptor.

Educated Pew Pew

I'm not a huge gun fan, nor have I ever played Titanfall, but this Smart Pistol MK5 by Nick Brick caught my eye. I don't know how accurate it is, there seems to be a bit of a lack of reference images, but I think that's even more impressive if a good percentage of this is extrapolated. And you all know I can't resist a good LEGO Prop.

UPDATE: Nick Brick assures me that it's accurate. He also pointed out that the game isn't out yet (so I have a great excuse for not having played it yet)

Brrrrrr

Yes, most of the country is suffering from extreme cold. In fact, Pepa Quin is so cold his teeth are chattering. Another brilliant entry in the latest Iron Builder. Check out the video to see it in action, it's jaw dropping (see what I did there?)

Intelligence

This is brilliant. You're familiar with those pin array sculptures, you know, the box full of hundreds of pins you can push in from the back side and it creates the contour? This is done on the same principal, and the results are stunning. Siercon and Coral, you never fail to amaze.
