Golden Gear
/Lisqr is back with another fantastic MOC on a fantastic base. This is the third in the series and each is more splendid than the last. While I like all the tanks, it's the display bases that I really dig. I think more builders should dedicate more time to the proper presentation of MOCs, be it on a shelf or in photography. Why do all that work and not show it off properly?
Ship In A Bottle
/This little wonder is the work of recently blogged Bangooh, who has just been flooding Flickr with some amazing work. Being a Pirates of the Caribbean fan I really like this Black Pearl, but this builder also has another ship as well as a train in a bottle. Click through for more pics.
BrickNerd Live Build - Ghostbusters!
/We're counting down to 8pm PST to build LEGO 21108 Ghostbusters live. It's totally more fun than folding laundry or filing taxes!
The Google+ Hangout is already started, building starts in just a little while. Join me!
Ghostbusters Live Build Tonight!
/Who you gonna call?
Hey LEGO fans and those with very little to do in the evenings, I've got my grubby little mitts on a Ghostbusters set and I'm going to build it live tonight starting roughly at 8pm PST. Join me!
Sunflowers
/One of my first experiences of build-on-command was cobbling together flowers for the window of the Clubhouse at LEGOLAND CA. Everyone's favorite Model Citizen Renate asked me to make a flower for her every time I visited, and they're still on display to this day. These excellent little sunflowers by Bruce Lowell would be right at home in that window. In fact, you better bring one with you next time Bruce.
Home Office
/Running a home based business can be a challenge, from the continual distractions of everyday life to that odd blend of work/home that can be a total productivity killer. But in an office as cool as this MOC by Paula G77, I think it would be pretty easy to stay on task (who am I kidding, MST3K is on and we have chocolate malted crunch in the freezer).
Data Knife
/Titanfall has certainly inspired a lot of building by Nick Brick. But I'm not complaining, the weapons and props from that game are amazing, and LEGO versions of them are even amazinger. I do have to wonder if I could spread cheese with this data knife though, or is just good for stabbing technology I hate? I know a printer that needs a good stabbing'.
Sun Salamander
/Yes, in the description of this stunning MOC by Siercon and Coral says Sun Salamander, but I think I'll nickname this dragon "Enpiyu" (say it out loud, you'll get it). It's been a while since I've seen so many clever techniques and part use in a single MOC. From the life jacket neck to the rip cord wings and from the watch band belly to the banana and flex tube horns this thing is awesome.
The Elinyes
/It's 2014, where are all the huge spaceships and flying cars? If you watch any TV or movies from the 50's through the 80's, they all seemed to think by now we'd have self-drying jackets and robot assistants. And ships like this awesome MOC by The Steads should be taking off every hour, or at least cruising through the cosmos.
Nothin' Beats A Haulic
/Iron Builder continues to rage on, and Legohaulic is not letting up. His latest offering is right off the shelves of Home Depot, a Haulic chainsaw! As if the styling, color selection, awesome construction and beautiful photography weren't enough, it's mechanized. And if even that wasn't enough, he shot a commercial for it.
Kili
/Pate Keetongu is back with another dwarf to add to his Hobbit collection. This time around it's Kili, brother of Fili and nephew to Thorin Oakenshield. As with all the previously built MOCs, this one is loaded with detail and faithful to the movie.
Mmmmmm, Pizza
/I love pizza (who doesn't?) and I think if I lived near this little parlor I'd be there all the time. With it's charming awnings and retro giant food sign, it's just inviting. Steebles is becoming one of my favorite builders. Not just for the skill and cleverness of his design and execution, but because of the subject matter. His MOCs do more than catch the eye, they stir up emotion...and hunger.
Which One Is The Any Key?
/My first computer (well, technically it was my wife's) was a 386 Packard Bell. It had a whopping 20MB (that's mega, with an m) hard drive that were knew we would NEVER fill. This latest from Chris McVeigh reminds me a lot of it, and it's pretty much perfect. Although this one is even older, with the old green display. I especially like the add on 5-1/4 disk drives, man were they clunky. And while our computer was really an expensive hunk of junk, we certainly enjoyed playing Space Quest on it.
Monument Valley
/Your eyes, don't trust them. Iain Heath was so inspired by the graphics of the game Monument Valley that he decided to give them a go in bricks. And the results are visually captivating. There is a bit of photoshop trickery involved here, so don't rack your brain too much trying to figure it out. Click through for a behind the scenes pic.
Sir Not Appearing In This Film (MaxiFig Edition)
/If you saw the latest episode of BrickNerd (you did didn't you?) then you got to see me open a one of Adam Monostori's awesome custom Minifigures based on Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Iain Heath was so taken with Sir Not Appearing In This Film he created a MaxiFig scale version of him. The detail and accuracy is uncanny. By the way, these are a project on LEGO Ideas which needs your support. Head over and bump this thing, we all NEED these.
