Wolf's Monstery

This Monstery by C-Core was originally intended for CCC, but wasn't done in time due to a combination of perfection and time constraints, and I think that's actually fantastic. I will totally take a model that the builder is happy with than a model that was rushed to make a contest deadline any day, and this one is a beauty. There's many things to love about this tower, but those slender cathedral windows are a highlight.

Space Invader

I'm not certain if this unorthodox mosaic by pasukaru76 is an homage to the original video game or to the street artist. But since the the street artist is paying homage to the video game does it really matter? While working in London I used to walk under an original Space Invader every morning, and wonder how on earth he got it up there.

Go Go Gadget Building Skills!

Here's a throw back to the eighties, Inspector Gadget by Legohaulic. I was just a bit old to really get into it when it came out, but I could appreciate his excellent cybernetic modifications. Plus I spent way too much time break dancing to Doug E Fresh, and who can forget the riff from The Show? I'll just leave you with that image, you're welcome.

Wretched Hive Of Scum And Villainy

The new Mos Eisley set from LEGO is ok, but just ok. I actually doubt I'll pick it up since it's just not very exciting. This diorama from I Scream Clone however, is beyond awesome. This is how it should be done. What child (or man-child) wouldn't want to play with this? You can recreate that entire scene with all the detailed play space in this. And Han WILL shoot first, guaranteed.

Dear "Mom"

It's my second day aboard the new space station, I wish I could tell you it's name and where it is, but it's still a secret. My quarters and roommates are good, just like you said they would be. The food is just ok, but I understand there's a better commissary on a deck much further down (you wouldn't believe how big this place is). This morning we captured a freighter and my first official duty is to guard it, I have to be there in 20 minutes. I think it's a pretty cool ship, but my roommate says it looks like a pork burger. Regardless, I need to get to my post. Just thought I'd send a quick note. Having fun in space!

Love,

The Wedgwood House

When scrolling through my LEGO Flickr feed, builds like this always stand out. I think it's because there's so much angular stuff in there that when you get to something with sweeping curves and not a strait line to be found, that it grabs your eye. Welcome to the Wedgwood House, by builder Cesbrick. The use of color here is brilliant, and paints a very illustrative, fairytale book aesthetic, lovely.

The Happiest Place On Earth

I love Disneyland, I was just there last weekend and I'm ready to go back. And seeing this beautiful MOC by builder Swan Dutchman makes me want to go back even more. This is the gateway to Disneyland, just past the entrance where we leave the real world behind and go "inside the berm". Sharp eyed fans will notice something a little amiss, because that's a Florida train at the California station. We'll just call it a magical mashup.

Shackled

I'm not certain why I'm so drawn to this MOC by Legohaulic. Perhaps I can relate to being shackled by LEGO (the toy, not the company) since blogging every single day by yourself can be a daunting task sometimes. Or maybe it's being shackled to the film industry, since it's turned all my friends gypsies and my wife a single parent. Or maybe it's just because I have bones, I dunno.

Welcome, To Jurassic Park

Jurassic Park represents a life pivot for me. When it came out I was still making rubber monsters, but the digital dinos in this film convinced me that CGI had finally come into it's own, and I switched to digital fx. This MOC by Siercon and Coral is as stirring and impressive as the scene in the movie. Admit it, you hear John William's score in your head right now don't you?

Gloom

For the past month builder Dave Kaleta has been offering daily builds from Atlas Games' popular card game Gloom. No longer are they just pictures on cards, Dave has expertly crafted the entire eccentric family of misfits and misanthropes. I'd say they make me happy, but that's not the point of the game, so I'll just say "ho hum" and smile on the inside.

Red Five Standing By...

Did you guys know I was a Star Wars fan? I might have mentioned it before, dunno. Over my lifetime obsessed with this movie I've built quite a few X-Wings, out of a variety of materials, but nothing rivaling the scale and badassness of this beast by crash_cramer. The proportions, color and attention to detail in this thing is staggering. It's over 30 inches long and probably weighs a proverbial ton, but dammit I want to swoosh it!

Neophyter F6 Type

The king of the greeb is back. Pete "Legoloverman" Reid needs no introduction. Between his excellent Space book and his phenomenal LEGO Ideas Exo-Suit, he's practically a household name. This fighter is a bit of a departure from the color scheme of neo classic space, but it's a welcome change. And just look at the greebly goodness on the belly, lovely.

How Is This Possible?

Some of my favorite builders are presently competing in Iron Builder, and as usual its fierce competition, but I'm beginning to doubt Siercon and Coral are mortal. I swear those two are not only altering space and time, but are summoning an army of spirit builders or something. Can you believe all this came from only two builders in just two weeks?
