Epic Thunderbird 3

Entertainment on TV was a little scarce when I was a kid, we only had like 5 channels. And in a landscape flooded with reruns of I Love Lucy, Mary Tyler Moore and Adam 12, stuff for kids was hard to find. Except on Saturday morning, when we ruled the airwaves. Thunderbirds wasn't on very often, so when we happened across it we were glued to the screen. Gerry Anderson's Supermarionation kept us completely captivated as we obliterated an entire box of Cap'n Crunch. Yes, the puppets were a little unsettling, the ships were a bit garish, the plots were thin and the visual effects were a bit cheesy...and we loved every second of it. Builder Bricks for Brains was clearly a fan too, and this totally awesome MOC of Thunderbird 3 is a work of art.

Midi Sandcrawler

I've always had an affection for the Jawas and their behemoth transportation. Something about their cute yet mischievous behavior juxtaposed to this colossal machine is just appealing. It's something we take for granted now but think about it, before George thought this up it simply didn't exist, and there was no basis of reality for it. It's been brick-built many times, and an official set three times, but I really like the scale of this version by Omar + kamitera. Oh, and those micro Jawas are adorkable.

One Shall Stand, One Shall Fall!

Our old buddy Moko  has come up with a pair of killer Gen 1 chibi-formers: Megatron and Optimus Prime.  And better yet, they actually transform!  Wonderful details and poseability on each of these characters, plus a variety of weapons, just like the 80's action figures.  I know because I still have mine.  Awesome stuff, Dude!

ClassicSpaceOutpost

Stephan Niehoff has been a busy builder, as you can see, with this marvel of Neo Classic Space design.  Ship: check.  Rover: check.  Ginormous rocket and communications dish: check annnnnd check.  Plus a few orange space dudes- Nice!

Treasure Collecting, Backstabbin' Fun

I had the great pleasure of learning to play Munchkin for the very first time with Guy Himber last October. Guy is the man behind Crazy Bricks, which ran a successful Kickstarter to create custom Munchkin parts for Minifigures (as well as a slew of other way fun custom parts). Well, now Guy has brought the entire game to life with a custom brick-built game board.

Lego Friends Animal Park

Anne Mette V and her son Lasse have created this massive and thoroughly detailed animal park, with a central fountain, balloon ride, and circumferential tram.  Check out their album for all the different venues.  Lions, Tigers and Bears, oh My!

O.M.S.L.M.B.P.U.

With one build, Nooroyd has far exceeded "NPU" and has forced me to create an altogether new acronym. OH MY SWEET LORD, MIND BLOWING PARTS USE.

See if you can spot them all. Look at this thing. LOOK AT IT! BASK IN ITS GLORY, FOR YOU ARE NOW ITS HUMBLE SERVANT!

Toy Story army helmets & fig stands, clone visors & antennae, popsicles, rubber bands, minifigure hands, and yet it all looks like it belongs. Perfection.

Because Science!

What's more awesome than Bill Nye and NDT? Bill Nye and NDT as minifigures. What's more awesome than Bill Nye and NDT as minifigures? Bill Nye and NDT as minifigures on a shirt! What's more awesome than Bill Nye and NDT as minifigures on a shirt? Getting Bill Nye and NDT as minifigures on a shirt for $10!!! Act fast, it's for today only on ShirtPunch!

Phonograph

While I'm not so old that I remember these devices being used, they did use records, which I do remember. In fact I still have some of the ones from my youth. And and I can't help but smile thinking about putting Herbie Hancock on this classic phonograph by bricks.life.idea.

We Have Our Winners!

I'm very pleased to announce the winners of the Next Level Nerdly contest. I'd like to extend thanks to all that entered, you're all fantastic builders. But in the end there can be only three so without further ado, here's our winners...

First Place: Nerdlyus Prime by Erik Hagsved

Transformers roll out! This is an amazing build that the pictures don't really do justice for. Don't believe me? watch the video!

Second Place: Nerdlys of Oz by Adam Dodge

We're off to see the wizard! This is a pretty brilliant reimagining of The Wizard of Oz that I have no doubt would be more entertaining than the original (which I still have never been able to watch in a single sitting)

Third Place: Nerdy Inside by Dicky Laban

This builder dared to explore the dark inner workings of Nerdly. Who knew his eyes lit up?

Workshop

Pete "Legoloverman" Reid is back with another awesome space interior. This one is a bit of an enigma, how can a room be so simple and crazy detailed at the same time? This is both at once, and effortless. It reminds me of a new film set, the morning the crew shows up for the first time, with the scene and drama on the verge of coming to life.

Kancolle Yamato

I love this guy's work!  Mike Dung has created another impressive character from a game I've never heard of.  Kantai Collection, also known as KanColle, is an online browser game in which one assumes the role of an admiral, assembles a fleet of kanmusu ('ship girls' based on World War II-era ships and submarines), & battles against fleets of unknown warships. (Courtesy of Kancolle Wiki).  Chicks with guns:  I've got to check out this game!

Splatoon

I've heard people talking about it, just yesterday in fact. I've seen the ads. I've even heard the rockin' music. But I've never played Splatoon, or even seen the gameplay for that matter (just don't have time to play games anymore) But that doesn't mean I don't dig this MOC. I don't need to know what they're from to appreciate the awesome characters in this build by Nick Brick.

Eleanor

There's quite a bit of crafty building going on in this little speed demon by builder ER0L. Take a look at the windshield, it's window panes captured in clips. And check out the trademark side profile, that's a subtle but necessary detail to make this a Mustang. All the lines are correct on this  MOC, making it instantly recognizable. Not an easy task when building 6-wide.

Clux Flapacitor

Marty McFLY would be proud of this. While I don't know the function or capabilities of this device by Si-MOCs, it's hard to imagine there being space in the Delorean for it anyway. Besides, I have to imagine it wouldn't smell terribly good. But hey, fresh eggs!

M REF BARON

As I get older I find that it is the small things that kick off memories of my childhood and this gun-suit did just that. I can remember one specific summer in my youth watching back-to-back-to-back episodes of Gundam Wing with my cousin every morning for a week while on vacation. This suit may not be from Gundam Wing, but it sure would fit right in. One thing I really like about this build by Lu Sim is the "weight" of the various sections. In traditional anime style various parts are over-exaggerated in size and pointy at just the right.. erm... points... Also, +10 nerd points for being in BrickNerd colors!

Technic '59 Caddy

Cadillac, the name is synonymous with quality. And now builder martijnnab22 has built the Cadillac of Technic MOCs (see what I did there?) with this sweet '59 Eldorado Biarritz 1959 Convertible. It's loaded with features including independent suspension, power functions remote control, lighting, locking doors and more. Check out the video to see them all.

Blank Canvas

I have a deep affection for vintage VW. My first car was a beetle (well, technically it was a Chevy Luv, but that died awfully quick) and I also owned a bus for a while, and someday I'd like to own one again. And restoring one, as depicted in this brilliant MOC by Norton74, is a far off dream of mine. One that requires free time...and a garage not full of LEGO.

If you're a Transporter fan (or car fan in general) do yourself a favor and click through to Norton's photostream, there's a lot to love there.
