LEGO Love at First Sight

What was the moment you fell in love with something LEGO-related instantly? Was it a set that ended your Dark Age or maybe something more subtle? For Valentine’s Day, we asked our BrickNerd contributors to share the stories of their LEGO love at first sight.

Let’s Get NERDIER About LEGO Pianos - Part 2

Let’s Get NERDIER About LEGO Pianos - Part 2

In our first installment, I looked at pianos from LEGO Friends sets. In this installment, I analyze EVERYTHING else, from minifigures to keytars to Ideas and beyond. And after building some seventy LEGO pianos, I had to try my hand at creating my own…

Let’s Get Nerdy About LEGO Pianos

When did the first LEGO piano appear in a set and how did it evolve from being built with bricks to more curvy variations today? And what is the standard height of a LEGO piano built for a minidoll? Let’s get nerdy about all things piano!

Quad Jumper Picnic

Here is something a little different that I missed back in July (does this count as MOCstalgia?) I am not and never will be a fan of the Friends Mini Dolls. They just doing sit well with me. However in this MOC from Tyler Sky they seem perfectly at home. I love bold colours on space ships and cool design features. And just look at the backdrop. I wish I could hop into that Jumper and blast off somewhere for food on a blanket!

Check Mate

Ok so I've got to admit, I'm not a massive fan of the LEGO Friends sets (mainly I just don't like the figures) but SuzEaton has won me over with this chess set. Each piece is themed, including a skier, halloween witch, DJ and bakers. The queen piece is represented by a prom queen and the king features one of the Friends as a mechanic. I strongly suggest checking out the individual pieces via the album. This half of the board fits together with a LEGO Elves themed board built by Suz's husband.

Whole Lotta Pizza

This is all kinds of clever. When builder koffiemoc accepts a challenge, he goes all out. These were all build for a revamp contest on lowlug.nl. He decided to build interpretations of LEGO 6350 Pizza To Go, and did so in the styles of City, Friends, Pirates, Wild West, Roman, Castle and my personal favorite, Star Wars. Yes, that sign is in Aurebesh.

Mrs BrickNerd - Review: Olivia's House

It's a rare Saturday that I am at home. Usually I share my Saturdays at work with Joe Public, so you can imagine my excitement to have a Saturday off. Yesterday however, my Saturday off coincided with a BrickNerd workday (lets face it, every day is a BrickNerd workday, but I digress) so, what to do? Raid the BrickNerd archive shelves, that's what!

That's No Moon...

As we settle in for Star Wars Day Eve (that's a thing, isn't it?) I take a random glance at my Flickr feed and was delighted to discover this, the Friends Star from pricey73! It seems to be the absolute polar opposite of it's Imperial counterpart in all ways with the exception of shape. But really, who would build a giant space station that's shaped like a cube?

Brick Or Treat!

Halloween is upon us, and while there are the classic costumes like witches, cowboys and ghosts, there are kids out there (and awesome parents) who take it to the next level. For instance Elijah, Aliyah and Jonah here at LEGOLAND CA today. You can have your ninjas and transformers, these kids are Footi from the Mixels, a Nixel and Olivia from LEGO Friends, excellent!
