Read MoreAre you ready to get building and maybe win a prize? Find some inspiration and motivation in these LEGO contests from all around the AFOL community! There’s nothing quite like a theme or a seed part to take you out of your comfort zone and give you inspiration to something new to try. And if you’re like me, a deadline is all I need to make sure I actually finish that WIP!
Read MoreAre you a Transformers fan? Have you ever thought about building your own, fully transformable figure from the Transformers universe? Well, now's your chance! PsychoBrick is hosting his very own contest for the purpose of testing your skills as a Transformer designer. Each contestant must design a single, functioning Transformers figure. This contest is open to anyone in the world, but unfortunately the prize (which is very cool, I might add) will only be shipped to a winner in the U.S. Contest ends on January 17th! If you're interested in participating, check out the contest's Flickr Group, or visit PsychoBrick's YouTube channel for rules and information!
Another SHIPtember has gone by, once again full of incredible sci-fi spaceSHIPs! The 5th annual contest produced some of the best SHIP's Flickr has yet to see. With each design being 100 studs long or more, they all are leaving an impact on SHIP builders for the future.
Fellow BrickNerd contributor El Barto and myself also contributed our own SHIP's this year, and we had fun doing while doing it!
Until next year's amazing space contest, enjoy these highlights picked out by your favorite BrickNerd members!
Along with a new round of Iron Builder, this month sees the season 1 finale of the ABS Builder Challenge, brought to you by InnovaLUG. For those who are unaware, this contest is also focused around creative uses for a specific element. This month's element is a curved top modified brick in dark red. For the finale, InnovaLUG has put 16 builders (including myself) against each other for 3 weeks! Working in teams of 4, each team is attempting to create the most creative builds possible. The team that produces the top 14 builds will be declared the winning team, and the member who contributed the most will reign as champion of this season. Nearly one 1 week into the challenge, I have featured some of my favorite builds in the round so far. Head over to the group and check out the rest! Can you think of a use for the piece?
A new month within the AFOL community usually brings new challenges and contests, and I am personally rather excited for this new offering sponsored by SLUG from Saskatchewan! Marchitecture challenges us to build a microscale version of a real world building, in the style of the official TLG Architecture sets. Full contest rules can be found in the Flickr group.
First prize is a copy of 20128-1 New York City, so get building!
