Me and Mrs BrickNerd were considering visiting Disneyland this weekend, but then this showed up in the mail. Yes, thanks to a little Disney magic, pixie dust and LEGO generosity we're bringing Disneyland to us. Yes, technically this is from Magic Kingdom in Florida, and we're west coasters, but we love Disney World too, just can't get there as often. This is going to be an epic build, so we're going to split it into two days. Starting this Friday, Sept 16th at 9am PST and continuing on Saturday at 9am PST we're going to tackle this mighty but magical set, join us!

VW has been an important part of my life. The first family car I remember was a beetle, my first car was a beetle and I drive a beetle now. So to say I'm excited about this set is a bit of an understatement. I know this is last minute and I'm sorry I didn't announce it yesterday, but I can't wait to build this little beauty.

My talk was about being a nerd, about listening to that inner voice and being creative, about being fearless with your passion. Every few years The LEGO Group produces a set that is universally applauded and I think this year we have a winner. Whether you're into Technic or cars or not, you have to appreciate the skill, care, engineering and love that went into this set. It's truly a work of art and a premium building experience. The attention to detail in every aspect, starting with the box it comes in, is superb. I can't wait to share the finished model with you, but for now, an unboxing will have to suffice.

Ghostbusters Headquarters - In Just Over A Minute

How do you make building one of the biggest LEGO sets ever produced even more epic? You  film it in multiple sessions with motion control time-lapse then composite all the shots with some cool speed effects and edit a video. This took over a week, but was super fun. The set is outstanding, with loads of detail and tons of nostalgia. One of my favorite all time movies is now one of my favorite all time sets.

When I started BrickNerd nearly three years ago a YouTube channel was part of the vision. I really had no idea what it was going to be, and decided I'd let it evolve naturally. Looking back I could not have predicted what a wacky and fun thing it was going to be. While cutting this new channel trailer I looked at a great deal of content from the channel, it was eye-opening and wonderful to relive the journey so far.  Looking forward I'm excited to see what mischief I get into next. Thanks to everyone who watches, you make it all worth it.
