Check out this aquarium from Joshua Morris. It has everything you want in aquatic, decorative pets. Colorful fish, interesting decorations, attractive framing. Not only is it beautiful, but way easier to manage the salinity than the real thing.
As if the Fire Chief wasn't spectacular enough, Guy Himber has gone and upped the ante. No show car this amazing is ever driven to it's destination, it's towed. Then rolled off and lovingly rubbed with a diaper. Guy is also occasionally lovingly rubbed with a diaper (this is how rumors start).
Check out the walls of this MOC by Gideon_83. With a combination of color, profile bricks, mixed plate and construction, the effect is excellent. I also love an epic MOC that tells the story of a mundane task, in this case a wall repair project underway.
I was holding off on posting this in hopes that a video would be made available, but I'll just have to update if one surfaces. This thing actually walks! I think Ryan Kessler said it best when he asked "is castle punk a thing?" It has a pretty cool back story too, click through to read.
MikeVd builds some excellent figures, and his latest don't disappoint. I can't decide what I like the most about these, there's just too much to love. Check out the laced boots, the tank tread dress, the posing, it's all top notch.
OK, tell the truth, you glanced at this pic and thought for one fleeting, optimistic moment it might be an official UCS set didn't you? This is a seriously big, beautiful ship from ~The Steads~. I really wish LEGO would have gotten the rights to Star Trek, instead of a certain other brand of bricks. Maybe then we would have gotten something this cool.
BrickBucki has been experimenting with plate angling and the results have been pretty spectacular. This all-seeing eye is pure art, in both it's build and photography. I can only imagine how delicate this must be.
Jon Hall knows his way around aircraft. His latest offering blends futuristic forms and vintage styling cues. That camo is brilliant. Check out the dual 8 barrel guns on the front of this thing, and cockpit is great.
Flickr newcomer Yo-Sub Joo unleashed a slew of pictures recently, some of them new and some dating back a bit. These micro scale builds caught my eye. They're ridiculously clean, like architectural models. Just beautiful.
This is a mashup worth blogging. If Bruce Wayne lived at the turn of the century (the previous one that is) we can imagine this what Batman might have been. A steam powered tumbler...excellent.
Tyler's E-MOTE seems to have really struck a chord, knock-offs & homages are starting to appear all over the place. This one by Sean & Steph Mayo is inspired by both E-MOTE and everyone's favorite restaurant to hate, McDonalds. Ba ba ba ba ba, I'm lovin' it.
More tributes to Nnenn continue to show up, like this nifty little craft by Doctor Mobius. The color scheme on this is great, very eye-catching. My favorite details are the checkerboards on one size with a subtle asymmetry on the other side and the little 1x1 round tiles on the sides. It's small attentions to detail like this that separate a good MOC from a great MOC.
Mark Stafford is no stranger to space, but even those completely familiar with their surroundings need a ride every once in a while. Enter Space Taxis, a new group on Flickr. Mark invites us all to build a taxi, or limo, or whatever. So who's going to add the first pedicab?
Inspired by Iain Heath's Beth, Lego Junkie brings us Chris. They are destined to be together at BrickCon 2013. But now that we have Beth, Chris and Catbug, it's up to you intrepid builders to assemble the rest of the cast...go!
This is freaking awesome. I actually laughed out loud when I saw it. The captured action is brilliant, check out the troopers tumbling out and the displaced snow shooting away from the head. Jim Walshe posted this but did not create it. Will the builder please step up?
UPDATE! We now know who the builder is, Daft Vader1 has come forward. Not only that, there's plenty more pictures of this awesome MOC.
As we ramp up to the release of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug I'm sure we'll see plenty Tolkien inspired MOCs, like this spectacular rendition of Bombur. An all studs out build can add tons of texture, as you can see. Nice work Pate-keetongu.
Intrepid LEGO reporters Joshua Hanlon and Matthew Kay have been "Ochresized", immortalized in brick. Very few non-infamous or celebrities have enjoyed this honor. While the caricatures are exceptional, I have to admit my favorite little bit of this is the distressed Mr. Sandwich.
According to Asimov's laws for robots:
1. A robot my not harm a human, so no undercooked meat.
2. A robot must obey orders, make mine medium please.
3. A robot must protect itself, so don't burn my steak and no one gets hurt.
Nice build Karen Quinn ! My Weber seems so...inadequate now.
Please keep your hands, arms, legs and feet inside the vehicle at all times (if you want to keep them). Few would argue that the Samson is the coolest vehicle in Avatar, and this version by ~The Steads~ is just as cool. It's big, beautiful and badass.
