Teetering
/I know just how this jester feels. This awesome MOC by Toltomeja is a perfect visual metaphor of my life these days. With home, family, BrickNerd, YouTube, building, designing, shooting, editing and social media all wobbling beneath me. And there I am, a clown trying to stay on top of it all.
Educated Pew Pew
/I'm not a huge gun fan, nor have I ever played Titanfall, but this Smart Pistol MK5 by Nick Brick caught my eye. I don't know how accurate it is, there seems to be a bit of a lack of reference images, but I think that's even more impressive if a good percentage of this is extrapolated. And you all know I can't resist a good LEGO Prop.
UPDATE: Nick Brick assures me that it's accurate. He also pointed out that the game isn't out yet (so I have a great excuse for not having played it yet)
Brrrrrr
/Intelligence
/This is brilliant. You're familiar with those pin array sculptures, you know, the box full of hundreds of pins you can push in from the back side and it creates the contour? This is done on the same principal, and the results are stunning. Siercon and Coral, you never fail to amaze.
Mantis
/I just love MOCs from m_o_n_k_e_y, and creations like this slender robot is the reason why. This thing just oozes character and style. It's obviously very delicate, but still free-standing and posable. The proportions on this thing are beautiful, I'm dying to see it in motion.
Hellboy
/I only peripherally got to work on Hellboy, but I did help, and I'm proud of it since it's an awesome movie. Speaking of awesome, check out this way cool MOC of Red himself by The Dealthly Halliwell. It's like a hybrid of the movie and comic versions of Hellboy, and it's very successful. The MOC isn't new, but it's finally been glamor shot so we can all enjoy it.
Dining with Totoro!
/Another Iron Builder is on! This round is between Carlmerriam and Pepa Quin, and it's going to be good. There's been a few small MOCs entered so far, but now it's getting interesting. Carlmerriam brings us Hayao Miyazaki's beloved Totoro while Pepa Quin gives us a lovely evening out with a fine wine. Bring on the builds!
LL-918 Halcyon
/Gotta love some Neo Classic Space mech action, and this fit the bill. This mini mech by -=Steebles=- strikes a perfect balance of old and new, and sports some menacing weaponry. Looks like it's got some great pose-ability as well.
WIFFY
/Recently we've had a little gopher problem at my house. Several times in the past few weeks we've had to move some small piles of dirt from the front yard because of those burrowing little buggers. Seems like the perfect job for Mr. WIFFY here. So hurry science guys, I want a WIFFY to move mounds!
GINAF X 3335 S
/Builder Mad Physicist is back with another stellar vehicle. This is a peculiar best because of it's duel side-tipping bed. But what I really like is that functional lift arm, check out those mechanics. You'd swear it's fully capable of moving on it's own, well done.
Music Teacher Townhouse
/I am not a very musically gifted person and, despite many attempts to correct this, I will probably forever be that way. I do, however, appreciate some good tunes and the skill of those that perform it.
When it comes to LEGO bricks, I enjoy unique subject matter and zaberca's Music Teacher Townhouse fits the build (pun intended). The contrast between the brick on the front of this building along with the excellent use of flat white tiles for framing really make this creation for me and could easily be part of the LEGO modular town sets. Make sure to check out the details on the inside of the building as the musicians practice their instruments.
20K And Counting!
/This morning the BrickNerd YouTube channel passed the 20,000 views mark. I know that's not a lot, there's other channels out there that get that on a single video in an hour. But for our crappy little show it's a milestone worth wooting about. Thanks for watching everyone!
Obelix
/I've never heard of the comic series Obelix and Asterix, but since it's French, I'm not totally surprised. Seeing this MOC got my interest piqued though. This build by IamKritch seems to capture his character pretty well. And that thing behind him? It's a big rock he carries around for some reason.
The Creature
/It would appear those infamous Blacktron baddies are dabbling in genetic engineering. But considering how cool this creature by Rogue Bantha is, I'm kinda OK with it. Check out the multiple layers of spherical awesome that make up the head, amazing.
Scania R500
/Admit it, when you first glanced at this you thought it was just a photo of a mondo truck huh? OK, maybe not, this is a LEGO fan site after all. But shooting this thing outdoors with a real background just makes it all the more realistic. But I expect no less from builder legotrucks. His trucks are always hyper realistic and HUGE.
To Fight Monsters, We Created Monsters
/Over the holiday break I was finally able to correct a severe nerd oversight, mainly I finally saw Pacific Rim. And now that Moko's awesome collection is complete (I understand that due to lack of decent reference material, Coyote Tango is postponed indefinitely) I can finally blog these amazing little works of absolute badassery.
