How many of you have (non-LEGO) models of Han Solo's famous Corellian freighter? JK Brickworks created a monochrome model out of LEGO. It's bringing two awesome model styles into one! Though there may not be color, this ship is still instantly recognizable, including all its details and angles. Nicely crafted!

Nathaniel Stoner

     My name is Nathaniel Stoner, and I am an very active LEGO builder.  I mostly build in the themes of castle and science-fiction, but I also dabble in other genres and create occasional random MOC's (My Own Creations). 

     When I was younger, I would get and build small LEGO sets for my birthday, but I was never really into them.  When they fell apart, I would become frustrated attempting to put them back together and would throw them in a box in my closet.  I couldn't stand them!

     Then, miraculously, I became addicted to the LEGO brick later in my teen years.  Ever since, I have continued to build up (pun intended) my collection of bricks and to expand my knowledge of techniques and building skills.  LEGO is truly more than a toy, its an art form and a way to express yourself.

     For the most part, I collect LEGO Star Wars (mainly the minifigs), which is probably my favorite LEGO theme.  I have a fairly decent collection, including some of the original 1999 sets, such as the Snowspeeder, X-Wing, and Naboo starfighter.  I also collected LEGO the Lord of the Rings when those sets first came out.  The minifigs are great, and the story remains one of my favorites ever. 

     My hope is to inspire other young (and perhaps even older) LEGO builders to unleash their inner creativity!  You can find me on my Flikr here. 

Return Of The REJECTZ

It takes a pretty hardcore fan to go to such effort to appear to not be a hardcore fan. Builder Iain Heath celebrates Star Wars Day in typical antiestablishment spirit with a new series of Star Wars inspired REJECTZ. I'm thinking an entire movie of these characters would be worth watching. Makes me wonder what the X-Wing or Falcon would look like, hmmm...

"Use Your Harpoons And Tow Cables, Go For The Legs!"

We sort of take it for granted now, but the battle of Hoth is one of the most imaginative an exciting battles ever put on celluloid. The music, the vehicle design, the action, it's all just amazing. I can vividly remember sitting in a theater, mouth agape as this scene unfolded, it was just awesome. Builder GolPlaysWithLego brilliantly pays homage to this greatest of battles with one of the coolest AT-ATs I've seen at this scale. Those nano scale snowspeeders are pretty nifty too.

The Lich

Hey, it's Sweet Pig Trunks, I mean the Lich! Builder Tim Lydy shows off another character of his brilliant collection of Adventure Time MOCs. They were originally created for Blocks Magazine but will be on display at BrickWorld Chicago so you can see them in person. Just be careful of the Well of Power, I understand it's full of toxic waste...and despair.

Wow, 20 years. Yes, it's been 2 decades since Austin Powers made his screen debut. It's a work of absolute genius, tempered with sophomoric humor (in other words, perfect). Builder Ochre Jelly celebrates the anniversary with two brilliant busts of Austin and Dr. Evil. Fun fact: this was one of my 2 year old son's favorite movies at the time. We had to stand by to skip ahead at more questionable moments, but we all knew this movie word for word after watching it twice a day for months.

Wiffle Bot

(FLAVIO)'s orange mech, WIFFY-2k17, is a masterpiece of NPU. From the minifig torsos and vests used for legs, to the harpoon gun arms, to the tire feet, to a half-dozen or so other parts I don't even recognize, there's a lot of creativity going on here and it's both menacing and cute. Take a closer look and you're sure to notice some more neat details.

When a new part comes along there's usually a bit of excitement. Depending on the part however, sometimes there's practically a movement. When part 27255 (modified 6x6 hexagonal with pin hole), AKA the "nexogon" arrived on the scene our pals at New Elementary threw down the gauntlet, and builders responded in a big way. This ship and solar communications array by builder Rogue Bantha make extensive use of the part. Check out the details and how it was built in this post.

Finn & Jake

Not that long ago in our house you could depend on a familiar theme song in the background and at a key moment a boisterous "Adventure Time!" from both the TV and one or both of my boys. They were big fans, and while I never really watched the show, I heard plenty of it over the speakers of our old minivan as the boys watched the DVD in the back seats. Builder Tim Lydy brings us a fanciful scene with Finn riding an enlarged and very long legged Jake. Cartoon logic at it's very best.

Well, one destroyer anyway. But it sure is a pretty one: ToaLeewan has done a great job capturing their shape at the scale of the Star Wars Ultrabuild sets. Say what you will about the prequels but I have loads of nostalgia for Droidekas; mainly from playing as them in LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga as a kid.

The Battle of Helms Deep is Not Over Yet

We're all quite familiar with Helms Deep. We've seen tiny versions, we've seen medium size versions. However, rarely do we see a model this large. Classical Bricks is prepared to recreate quite a battle, the question is...does he have enough Uruk-hai? I would recommend having multiple Elves ready to protect that weakness in the fortress...

Jango Fett

While I'm no fan of the prequels there are a few diamonds in the rough. I didn't care for most of the new characters introduced, but I found Jango Fett compelling. And seeing Boba's origin story was interesting, if a bit weird. I like this Jango bust by builder tankm, by utilizing some key parts from the Constraction figure, mainly the helmet, chest plate and shoulders, and doing some very clever System building, the two are combined to great effect.

A Battle Fit for a King

A collaborative castle battle effort that was on display during BrickFair Virginia 2016. Gary^The^Procrastinator shared photos of this magnificent battle on his Flickr photostream. Multiple skilled castle builders contributed to this massive MOC, creating realistic ruins and an awesome port battle. Some of those boats are truly inspiring.
