I mean why not? It makes as much sense as a bunny that delivers chocolate eggs right? (no offense Easter Bunny, I'd still like a basket with some LEGO and maybe some Whoppers) This Pikachu from builder zkdlalsxm brings back a lot of memories of my son attempting to "catch 'em all", and he's posable, most impressive.
Check out this alt-build for Benny's Spaceship: Asimov I Starship, by Piotr Turecki. The ship has some nifty design features such as a detachable bow module. Plus everybody fits inside (Kitty's in the cargo bay). But what really jumps out is the photo editing-Stunning! I'll have to imagine an effect like that the next time I swoosh one of MY ships around the living room. Awesome!
Computers are pretty nerdy, LEGO is pretty nerdy and Mike Schropp is pretty nerdy (my kind of geek!) He has brought his considerable customizing and fabricating skill to build one of the coolest custom-built computers I've ever seen. And it sports some impressive specs too, this isn't some crippled system that put form over function. He shared the whole process on his excellent website Total Geekdom.
As a kid, one of my absolute favorite series of video games was Armored Core. It offered a seemingly infinite variety of mecha parts to build your own from scratch, and outfit it as necessary for the battle at hand. I think I spent more time designing mecha than actually playing the game. Builder CCY has manufactured this glorious version named AALIYAH, and it is simply divine. Make sure to browse the entire photo set, as the builder has gone the extra mile by building all sorts of extra boosters, weapons, and add-ons to customize this agile and deadly beast.
Although Tintin is typically known for his terrestrial adventures he has taken a trip to the moon from time to time. The most significant adventures appear in 1953 and 1954 when fascination in space was at an all time high throughout the world. And what is cooler than trolling around on the moon? Trolling around the moon in a tank of course! This reproduction of Tintin's famous tank from builder Tyler is very true to the original from the comics. Tyler uses many excellent building techniques and details in the reproduction including Titin's dog Snowy in one of the tanks front pods.

Firas Abu-Jaber is at it again, but not with an exotic super car. Because really, who wants to drive their baby through potholes, into muddy puddles, and over suicidal woodland creatures? That's why your classic car needs its OWN ride! Check out this Mercedes-Benz Rennwagen Schnelltransporter. The Gullwing is pretty nice, too.
This was yet another epic round of Iron Builder. Once again I'm floored by the creativity and ingenuity of the builders. And as if the flood of MOCs that somehow incorporated that infernal pitchfork part wasn't enough, builder 6kyubi6 ends this round with a stop motion animation inspired by Jon Rolph's "Paint. A Short Lego Film". Well played sir.
This is an impressive beast from builder curtydc. The scale and styling alone would be enough to make you go "whoa", not to mention all the support vehicles that accompany this massive vehicle, but add to that it's remote controlled and "whoa" just doesn't seem to cut it. Take a look at these stats...
- Six 118mm RC4WD Interco IROK 1.9 Scale Tires
- Two XL motors power the 6 wheel drive powertrain
- Two M motors power the 6 wheel steering
- Fully Independent Suspension with 12 Shock Absorbers (2 per wheel)
- Two Battery Boxes
- Two IR Recievers
- One Control Switch
- Lots of rubber bands, a couple feet of extension wires, and a lot of blue bricks.
I'm a bit confused by Builder Arkov's description of this fabulous MOC. He states "it was supposed to be a robot but now it isn't and we're all disappointed somehow". Well, it's only me and my Corgis here, but we totally dig it, so clearly not "all" are disappointed. Best use of the hockey player head I've ever seen as well.
Any Cub Scout will tell you that "be prepared" is the Scout motto. Ever since I was a neckerchiefed little snot nose I've had assorted multi-tools and knives-of-many-blades. But none have been as cool as this MOC by vitreolum. You just never know when you'll need a boxing glove or a bubble gun, and with a Seuss Army Knife in your pocket, you'll be prepared.
There seems to be an intrinsic link between Nintendo gaming and MOCs. Think about it, there are SO many cool creations out there inspired by the likes of Mario and other Nintendo characters. But by far my favorites are Zelda MOCs, and this one is actually in the home stretch on LEGO Ideas. It has just over a month left and only about 1500 votes needed to get it into consideration. It's got my support, how about yours?
This is awesome. I'm a big fan of retro, Polynesian kitsch, Cali diners and LEGO, so this is a winner. Combine that with an excellent post card photo treatment and it's irresistible. The build is excellent and stands on it's own, but the overall presentation on this is just SO GOOD. Nice work eyescream54.
I love when I can spot a builder from their MOC. A builder that has so much personal style that their work is instantly recognizable. Yes the MOCs from mihaimariusmihu tend to be on the darker side, perhaps even grotesque, but they are undeniably his and irrefutably stunning. This one is at once beautiful and disturbing, sinister and compelling.
There's an event taking place on Flickr between builders Legopold and joeseidon called the Chain Challenge, and you really need to check it out. They are both building eleven MOCs, and many of them are brilliant. These two are among my favorites, but there's many more and they aren't done yet, go see for yourself!
Sometimes you have to stop and really look at someone's creation to fully appreciate the design. Upon initial inspection we find only the simple gatehouse to a yet-to-be-built castle, two basic towers and a gate. But if you look closer we find some really cool new building techniques that we may have missed during out initial inspection including the two-tone patched walls and a very excellent and possibly never before seen Merlon design.
It's so good to see a fantastic builder find that spark again. I just blogged Bill Vollbrecht yesterday, but this is so cool I just have to share (plus it's from Star Wars, what kind of nerd would I be if I overlooked it?) This Gamorrean Pig Guard is classic, studs up figure construction at it's finest, and I totally dig it.
This MOC illustrates a philosophy at BrickNerd, that it does't have to be big, or complex or expensive to be an impressive MOC. This destruct button from Moko is super simple, pretty small and could probably be built with parts you have on hand. It's also brilliant. I especially like the fact that it lights up when you press it. I might have to build one of these to have on hand at the studio, you know, just in case.
If you ever get to San Diego do yourself a favor and spend some time in Balboa Park. There's tons to do there in an incredibly beautiful setting. Just ask long time So-Cal resident and multitalented artist Bill Vollbrecht, he was so inspired by the place he built this stunning MOC based on one of the buildings there, the El Prado Arcade. Makes me want to hop in the car and head down there.
They just don't build them like this any more, and it's a shame. Art Deco is just so appealing and irresistible, how could you not want to stop here for a patty melt or malt? This just isn't a slick exterior though, check out that awesome interior. Now I'm hungry, do you suppose they serve chicken fried steak?
