The Death Mobile
/As you know I rarely feature digital models. Not that I have anything against virtual building, I use LLD and Brickforge all the time. But I only use them as a design tool, building always follows. That being said I cannot resist this MOC of one of the greatest vehicles ever, the Death Mobile from the classic Animal House. And it really wouldn't have been complete without Bluto, nicely done mmbace.
Fluttershy And Discord
/My good friend and Bricks Of Character cohort Iain Heath is back with another stellar MOC. From everyone's favorite anthropomorphized equestrian digitally rendered animated entertainment series My Little Pony comes Fluttershy and Discord. You can see these in person at Emerald City Comic-Con this weekend along with everyone's favorite British accented caffeine powered bipedal creative plastic brick arranger, Iain.
Trash Mech
/Tachikoma have many uses beyond the obvious military and law enforcement applications. I doubt the care of grade school children, theater usher or pool lifeguard will ever make the list. But hey, trash collector? Why not? This build and photo by Galaktek is brilliant.
Benny Stardust and Brick In The Wall now gone.
/LEGO fan, snarky humor and awesome art liking t-shirt wearers take notice, the new Tee Fury shirts are now available. Get yours now because they won't last!
UPDATE: Told you they wouldn't last. Apologies for the semi-broken link, but it doesn't matter any more, they're gone!
Lord Helmet
/Star Wars and sci-fi fans usually have a good sense of humor. And when Spaceballs came out in 1987 we all enjoyed watching our favorite movies get mocked. A stand-out character was Dark Helmet, played by one of my all-time favorites, Rick Moranis. This version by customBRICKS is excellent.
Benny Stardust VS Brick In The Wall - Tomorrow!
/I was just asked at Starbucks the other day where I got my shirt, and of course the answer was "Tee Fury" (seems like it always is). Well, Tee Fury is at it again tomorrow, and you can score yourself one of these fine examples of textile awesomeness. Stay tuned for the link!
Siege Tank
/Talk about awesome, this StarCraft 2 siege tank from drakmin is so well designed, built, photographed and edited that it looks more like box or concept art. But no, it's an actual MOC and it's totally badass. Yes, it's been around for a while, but this picture is new so I don't know if I'd call it MOCstalgia or not, hmmm. Check out the video as well, sweet!
Finrodias
/Feast your eyes on this! Just last Tuesday we were treated to the Kingdom of Renroth, now POCKYLAND is back with another absolutely mind-boggling build. Not only that, but another build called Renerrost slipped under the radar since then. I wish I have more info to share about these amazing builds, but you'll have to be content with with the total jollification of eye candy. Do yourself a favor and click through and view some high res pics, enjoy!
The Pale Man
/One of the creepiest characters of Guillermo del Toro's masterpiece Pan's Labyrinth was the pale man. The fairy-eating, food-hoarding guardian of the blade. It's no secret I worked on this film, as a matter of fact, I created the pale man's palm eyeballs (the digital ones). It's great to see him in brick form thanks to the efforts of twice-blogged-in-one-day The Deathly Halliwell.
No, I Am Your Father
/Spoiler alert! Yup, it turns out Darth Vader is Luke's father, none of us saw that coming. I can clearly recall seeing this in the theater with my grandmother (bless her heart, she didn't know what was going on, "now, that's the bad guy right?"). I also remember nearly dropping my Milkduds with this revelation. Nice build and photo storm TK431.
"Red"
/Illuminated Zelda Mosaic
/If I could figure out a way of making the classic Zelda "you got something cool" musical sting when you view this I would. Builder Baron Julius Von Brunk has mashed up LEGO mosaic and classic Lite-Bright to great effect, using LED strips to backlight Link with the triforce. Check out Instuctables to see how it's done.
Build-A-Mation
/Another co-conspirator on the secret animation project is James Morr of SpastikChuwawa fame. His latest video features a familiar mascot. Check it out.
Dwarven Dreams
/I am quite honored to have a key member of Brotherhood Workshop, Kevin Ulrich, working with me on a super top secret animation project. While I can't share any details of that (yet) there is a new video from LEGO and Brotherhood Workshop on YouTube. Enjoy!
Vocaloid Bricks
/I'm a drummer. Well, I guess I need to elaborate on that. I have a Roland electronic drum set, and I make noise with it on occasion. It's actually been a while, but I'm seriously considering moving it to my new studio where I can rock out with my headphones on. So the first thing that I noticed from this awesome MOC and pic by MikeVD was the drum set. But the whole thing just rocks.
Brownie Hawkeye
/Sometimes when inspiration strikes, you just don't argue. Take for instance this camera by the great Carl Merriam. Sure it was late, sure he was supposed to be going to bed, then the sun was coming up and this beauty was on his workbench. Sleep is overrated really.
Someone Was In The Pod...
/You all know what a huge Star Wars original trilogy nerd I am. So how could I resist this totally sweet MOC by -derjoe-? Although it is inspired by a scene that was unnecessarily mucked with for the special edition. Why adding eight more guys and a clumsy walking dewback was supposed to make it better is beyond me. Speaking of dewbacks, check out this baby, built from 1400 olive green plates. This is from the book Build Your Own Galaxy, which I've not seen yet but clearly need to.
The Throne Of Thranduil
/Let's face it, elves can be jerks. And one of the biggest, jerkiest elves is Thranduil (not that I'm 100% on the dwarves side, they can be jerks too). But what he lacks in tact, compassion and like-ability he makes up for in panache and style (except maybe that stupid crown). Flick user lisqr certainly has panache and style as well, and this MOC shows it.
