The first thing that caught my eye on this build by GunmanLurikeen was the rounded edges on the roof. But take a look at all the cool teqniques being used here. The droid arms for fencing, the curved plates for contouring the terrain, the details in the crop. There's a lot going on here and it flows beautifully.
The year is 2033, 20 years after the events of 2013, when nuclear war ravaged the surface of the earth. Humans have descended below the surface to escape the effects of radiation above. This is VDNKh station in Moscow, as realized by Fianat, based on the book Metro 2033. While it's a dystopian future, it's a compelling MOC.
It was 1984 when LEGO introduced the blue classic space minifigure, just 30 short years ago (and I was in high school, jeez I'm old). To celebrate builders are gathering hilarious pics in the Flickr group Benny's 30th Birthday Bash. From the looks of it, Benny's been up to some antics, what will he be up to next?
I like the stance on this neo classic space vehicle by Capt. Dad, the triangular suspension in the back and smaller front tire makes it look aggressive. I also like the use of the large Technic turntable as well as the mounting for it. The whole thing looks ready for action, and ready for play.
Here at BrickNerd we like to look back from time to time, sometimes a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away. The Imperial blaster (Blastech E-11) is one of my all-time favorite fantasy weapons. When I was a kid I had a really cool toy one (back before they started making them wacky colors) and spent many hours vanquishing imaginary Imperials. This version by Remi Gagne is awesome, and what's even more awesomer is you can build your own with instructions here (caution, it's a big file). Blast on readers!
Did you know there's another Iron Builder going on? Yes, it's been a bit of a low key one, what with all the distractions in the world, but Pepa Quin and Disco86 are currently locked in an epic struggle of LEGO builder superiority. The part this round is the 2x2 inverted dome/bowl.
I know I don't feature Bionicle or Hero Factory often enough on the blog (or Technic, GBC, Military, SHIPS, Collaborations etc etc) but this MOC by Moko grabbed me by the pupils and throttled me. Check out the contouring and proportions on this guy! I guess I shouldn't be surprised at the pose-ability of this MOC since it's got ball and socket joints, but it's excellent.
Puns normally make me groan, but a MOC with one built in (POC? MUN?) is just irresistible, and in this case friggin' brilliant. Builder 74louloute has crafted what would be a totally sweet MOC regardless of the visual joke, but the inclusion just puts the whole thing over the top.
Guardians of the Galaxy mania continues to sweep the world. I knew when I saw this guy on the screen that he would be built, if not by somebody else, then by me. Luckily Legohaulic came through and now we can all marvel (get it?) at him in adorable brick mode. Hmm, is this MOC a spoiler?
The game Titanfall seems to have been quite a bounty of inspiration to builder and weapon master Nick Brick. His latest offering is the Hemlok BF-R, and it's a beauty. Nick's attention to detail and excellent building techniques combined with stellar weapon design from the game's makers results in a fantastic MOC.
When I visited Billund in 2011 I was a bit shocked at the size of the airport. Billund itself is just a small, sleepy village in the middle of the countryside. If not for the presence of LEGO, you would hardly notice it from the air. This MOC by Everblack done in the Archtecture style is perfect. In fact, I'd dare say it could be packaged as-is and brought to market it's so good.
Guardians of the Galaxy continues to do brick, err I mean brisk business at the box office, and it's a toss up between Rocket and Groot as far as everyone's favorite character. My favorite is Rocket, no hesitation, and since Powerpig chose him for his first GotG Brick Sketch, I assume he's his fave too.
Few weave together history lessons and MOCs better than James Pegrum, and this excellent little depiction of King Richard's landing on Acre is a perfect example. On it's own this is a marvelous ship, but reading the description (especially what a badass King Richard was) makes it even more special.
I think it's wonderful how particular cars are associated so strongly with a film or character. Some so strongly that they seem inseparable. Can you think of a Delorean without Marty McFly? Well here is another car that is forever linked, and it's hard to say which is more cool, the car or the man, since we're talking about James Bond. This Aston Martin DB5 by EROL hits all the right marks, instantly recognizable and iconic.

Any fan of hot rods or 60's-70's counterculture knows this face, it's Big Daddy Roth's Rat Fink! I built a lot of Revell model kits when I was a kid, and my favorites were Big Daddy Roth kits. This version by rabidnovaracer pretty much nails him, I especially love the inclusion of his ever-present swarm of flies, brilliant!
Builder tkh / ieyasu has added to this already impressive group of super heroes with the addition of Batman and Green Lantern. I'd say now they're ready to take on just about any challenge. I like how the basic structure is the same on these figs but each is totally unique, and awesome.
This banquet scene is from the upcoming book Build Your Own LEGO Knights Realm. And if this single image is any indication, it's going to be a fantastic book. There's so much detail here you can stare at this image for ages and keep spotting new things. My favorite detail is the candelabra on the main table, great use of the handcuffs part.
No, this isn't the most elaborate MOC, in fact, it's pretty simple. But it's got a lot of heart and a ton of charm, and it happens to be inspired by two of the greatest characters ever to grace the funny pages, Calvin & Hobbs. It's amazing how the assembly of a few dozen small plastic pieces can give you a warm fuzzy feeling, nice one Dodge.
