Party!
/Summer might be pretty much over, but it's not stopping the party on this island. Having spent some time in Hawaii in June, I can totally understand. Builder Disco86 brings this party to life with skill and panache, and I totally want to be there (that is unless I'd be on the menu). Somebody pass the tanning butter.
The Future Of Jakarta
/Here's a micro scale glimpse into the future by builder Irwan Prabowo. Of course the first thing that grabs your eye is the marvelous twisted building and hovering helicopter, but my favorite detail is the suspended monorail.
STUDS Cards Series 1 On Sale Sept 10th
/I was truly honored to be featured in the first series of STUDS collector cards, and now I'm super excited to share the news that you'll be able to order them finally! Starting September 10th log on to brickstuds.com to order yours. And be sure to Like them on Facebook for updates and news on Series 2!
Battlestar Galactica
/Following the epic box-office success of Star Wars, there was what can only be described as a glut of science fiction shows and movies, trying to capitalize on the momentum. Most of the shows were crap, but we did enjoy Battlestar Galactica. It helped that the visual effects were done by Star Wars alumni John Dykstra and his company Apogee. It would appear Lego Admiral was a fan too, judging by his faithful and excellent Cylon Raider and Colonial Viper.
Exo RAWR
/Time is running out to enter the Exo RAWR contest on Flickr, sponsored by LifeLites, FBTB and BrickNerd. You are challenged to build a Exo RAWR (Reinforced Animal Wearable Robo-Suits). These entries by Yatkuu and Pixel Fox are both amazing. I just about spit tea this morning when I saw the Beast of Unburdon. You can enter until 11:59 8/31 GST, get building!
It's Like A Show Within A Show (Showception?)
/Last night I was the guest on the YouTube channel Beyond The Brick. I had a great time hanging out with Joshua Hanlon and Matthew Kay and pretending not to be sick, pretty sure my ruse was completely undetectable. Just for fun I did their show from the set of my show (yes, I have an odd sense of fun). Thanks for having me on guys.
Anyone Got A Quarter?
/Being a kid of the eighties, I lost (invested?) a considerable amount of coin in these wonderful time wasters, but I don't regret it. The golden age of the video arcade is over, but like it, big hair, gloves on one hand a parachute pants, I got to experience it first hand. I lived it. You can try to recreate the experience by backing this project on LEGO Ideas. Thanks for a bit of nostalgia msx_80.
Mechto-1
/Holy mashup! To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Ghostbusters, as well as the upcoming national Ghostbusters day (no really, it's Aug 28) builder ninbendo has created a transforming Ecto-1. This is some seriously ingenious engineering. In it's car mode, it is hardly detectable that there's anything different than the standard model. The giant ghost trap and PKE meter is pretty awesome too.
Vampire's Castle
/It's an amazing thing when phenomenal building, great photography and serious Photoshop chops all come together. I've been watching the progress on this piece by CASTOR-TROY for months, and I'm so excited to see it's not only done, but mindblowingly great.
The Ghostbusters (No Not That One)
/This is one of those "out there" builds, but it's also pretty neat. This is based on Filmation's Ghostbusters, not to be confused with the movie we all know and love, and not to be confused with The Real Ghostbusters, the animated series based on the movie. This is the animated series based on the 70's Saturday morning show The Ghost Busters (which I remember, I'm old). It was a favorite of Orion Pax, and now he has his very own playset.
Arleigh Burke Class Destroyer
/This is a remarkably clean and beautiful model of one of the powerhouses of the US Navy from builder legodrome. It's a perfect balance of detail and scale, with a nearly studless design. I especially like the back landing platform and the helicopter, perfect.
Dunholm Taverna
/Ever see a picture or visit a place that brings you instantly back to a nostalgic memory from your youth? Well, for whatever reason, Dunholm Taverna took me right back to my days of playing Infinity Engine games like Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale which I attribute to creating in me a love for all this medieval. The creator of this MOC, Wochenender, reminds us that not all castle creations need be castles, in fact some of the best entries into the genre are those that put us into the every day life of your average citizen.
BritNerd!
/My good friend and fellow male exotic dancer Iain Heath as risen to the challenge I presented yesterday. Did I say risen to? I meant owned. He managed to take over my show.
Well played sir, well played.
I Am Groot
/I am Groot. I....Am Groot. I AM Groot. I am Groot.
I am Groot! I am Groot (PowerPig), I am Groot. I am GROOT.
I am...Groot.
“I am Groot”
A Night Without Day, A Day Without Night
/The 80's were such a good time for movies. There were original stories, epic tales and imaginative filmmaking. Ladyhawke is a great example, and the inspiration for this phenomenal cathedral MOC by Pippo Zane. I strongly encourage you all to click through and check out many more pics (view in high-res, it's worth it) of this awesome structure and the occupants.

BrickNerd Episode 208

Apologies to the BBC and Top Gear :-)
