Hulk Vs Wolverine

A long time trope in the nerdasphere is "who would win in a fight..." The match-ups are always interesting, but not nearly as interesting as the passionate arguments from either camp. Take this pairing of Hulk vs Wolverine by builder icare_25. Team Hulk will go on about his super strength and unbound rage. Then team Wolverine will cite super healing and prattle on about adamantium claws. And while all this was going on I got the last slice of pizza.

The Batman

The centerpiece of Tim Lydy's Forms of Gotham collection, Bruce Wayne's alter ego, the crimefighting legend, Batman. Like the other figures in the collection, Bats stands on a base representative of his place in Gotham lore, namely where his fate was sealed, crime alley. This is where young Bruce witnessed the murder of his parents, and was changed forever.

The Perfect Couple

According to research one of the things that makes a perfect couple is common goals and mutual admiration. What could be more descriptive than The Joker and Harley Quinn? They both share the common goal of bringing down the Bat, and each is infatuated with the other. Sure they're raving psychopaths, but that's beside the point. Two more of Tim Lydy's brilliant Forms of Gotham collection, and an inspiration to couples everywhere.

We're All Mad Here

I have to confess that even as big a Batman fan as I am, I've never heard of Jervis Tetch, AKA Mad Hatter. Builder Tim Lydy admits that he's "just outside of the main circle of arch-bat-foes". Since I'm not much of a comic reader, I can see why I've missed him, but now I think I need to go back and do a little catch-up, this guy's got some panache. Part of Tim's brilliant Forms of Gotham collection.

Teeny Tiny Harley

The level of detail in this tiny MOC by Grantmasters is pretty staggering. So much so you almost have to look twice to figure out what you're looking at. The profile bricks are an instant giveaway of the scale, but your brain just can't accept it. Harley has always been a bit irresistible (well, at least for a psychopath) but this version is at squee levels.

Behold The Batcave!

This MOC is Bruce Wayne levels of commitment! Check out this truly epic Batcave from builder 莫古 (Chak hei Mok). The scale is impressive of course, and the level of detail is stunning, from the multiple bat-vehicles, to the choice of suits and the tiered construction to the complex geology, it's a feast for the eyes. But what I really love is the attention to detail in the lighting. It's all scale lit and looks absolutely cinematic.

Penguin

Gotham's notorious crime lord Oswald Cobblepot, AKA Penguin, has been plaguing Batman's efforts to rid the city of crime since his first appearance in 1941. This version by Tim Lydy looks the business, and captures his slimy, infamous persona perfectly. Another in his series of brilliant Forms of Gotham collection.

Scarecrow

The unveil of builder Tim Lydy's brilliant Batman MOCs continues. This time it's Scarecrow, the homicidal hallucinogen-using psychopath. As unsettling as Nolan's Scarecrow was, the Arkhamverse version is truly the thing of nightmares and Tim has captured his essence perfectly in this beautifully frightful character MOC.

Two-Face

Visitors of Brickworld Chicago got to see this (as well as many more) in person, and I'll admit to a slight tinge of jealously. Tim Lydy's Batman collection was one of the highlights of the show, and looking at Two-Face here I can see why. The sculpture work is amazing, but it's also oozing with character. I can't wait to see the rest of these.

Diana Of Themyscira

There's a lot of inspired building in this version of Wonder Woman by ToaLeewan. It seems super simple at first, but that's only because it's so clean. I'm sure we're going to be seeing a lot more of this lovely lady now that she's got her own movie in the works. And if we can just keep Zack Snyder from sinking his mediocre claws into it, it might be good.

Batman v Superman

I saw BvS opening day, and it was pretty disappointing. But then again I always thought the concept was a bit silly, or I wouldn't have made my own version. But that doesn't mean I don't like the characters any less, and I certainly dig this MOC by cid1943. The split screen effect here with daylight Metropolis and the man of steel on one side and dark Gotham and the dark knight on the other is super effective.

ROM: Spaceknight

So how long before we see a ROM movie from Marvel? If Guardians of the Galaxy can become a thing, why not ROM? Sure it's a comic inspired by a terrible toy that ended up being way more cool than said toy deserved. But with all the super heroes movies coming out, this guy could be a thing too. Until then we can admire this bust by SPARKART!

The Merc With A Mouth

Deadpool continues to smash box-office records (I saw it, it's awesome!) and of course he's always been a popular subject with builders and cosplayers so he's been in my flickr feed in numerous forms the last few weeks. But very few of those MOCs have caught my attention as much as this figure from nobu_tary. The pose, posture, styling and detail on this figure is top-notch. And the use of the axe blades for the eyes is sheer brilliance.

Deadpool Loves You

Builder Powerpig is back with just the thing for those lonely hearts out there, some sarcasm and a chimichanga. It's Deadpool, and he's awfully fond of you. That is if you're not a bad guy, in that case he's gonna open a XL can of whoop ass on you, with love of course.

The Bottle City Of Kandor

Not being totally steeped in comics as a youth means I do get to enjoy one perk, continual surprises. Today I learned about the inspiration of this MOC of Kandor, the capital city of Krypton. It was shrunk and preserved by Brainiac and eventually recovered by Superman and kept in the Fortress of Solitude. Now it's a beautiful LEGO sculpture by Ken Robichaud.

Holy Retrospective batman!

I love this! The batmobile has taken many live-action shapes, and it seems that filmmakers feel it's their duty to give us a new one with every new movie. But no matter which is your personal favorite (I'm sorta partial for the Burton one myself) you have to love them all at this mini scale by builder SPARKART. And all the figures to with them is a perfect finishing touch.

Wasp

Builder Tim Lydy continues his pursuit of the perfect female figure at this scale, and it's coming along great. He may not be fully satisfied with the final results, but I'm smitten. I understand his position though, artists often are their own worst critics. But I assure you Tim, the pose, forms and composition of this shot is stellar, I look forward to seeing more.

Ghost Rider

This is the awesome convergence of Bionicle, System, comic books and mad building skills. Meet Johnny Blaze, AKA Ghost Rider, he bargained his soul to save his father, and now fights evil while his head is a flaming skull. Now I don't want to start rumors, but building skills like this are uncommon, you don't suppose dennis qiu has struck some kind of bargain do you? Let's hope there's no hellfire involved though, LEGO melts at 221º.

Wonder Woman

This is truly another golden age of the comic book hero. While comic books themselves reigned supreme in the 50's, they've certainly had their ups and downs since then. But now all those heroes that kept our imaginations thrilled are making big screen appearances on a scale that would have scarcely been imagined just 20 years ago. These heroes are also enjoying a renaissance of public awareness and cultural significance that has nerds around the world overjoyed. And of course we're seeing an explosion of heroes in brick form, which makes me all kinds of happy. Like this awesome MOC of Wonder Woman by Tim Lydy, gorgeous.
