I won't claim to have the slightest clue what the back story is on this MOC by W. Navarre. I know there's some kind of MOCpages contest, and it's sort of a T-800, and an ABS challenge maybe, I don't know. And it's a crazy morning here at BrickNerd headquarters, so I have no time to research. What I do know is this is a pretty awesome skull flag, feel free to comment and fill in the details.

Ah Ewoks, those cuddly little teddy bears that overthrew an empire (or at least helped). Love them or hate them, you have to admit they're better than gungans. Builder LEGO 7 likes them, and I don't mind them, and I really don't mind this pretty spiffy little MOC featuring them. And before you start complaining that they're just cute little fuzzy critters, I'll remind you they fully intended to EAT Han and Luke, think about that.

It took a lot of guts to use a puppet to represent a powerful Jedi master and mentor in the sequel to the most popular movie of all time. But bringing together the talents of Stuart Freeborn and Frank Oz made it work, and the gamble paid off. Now master Yoda is part of our lives, recognized around the world, represented in all forms of art including LEGO sculpture, like this stellar example by builder Felix Jaensch.

It's been a while since I've seen characters from World of Warcraft. I've never played myself, but my boys dedicated no small amount of their lives to this game not that long ago. I did see the movie, but like the other non players in the audience, we were all going "huh? who? what?" These are members of the Horde by builder YOS Bricks, namely Cairne Bloodhoof,  leader of Thunder Bluff, Vol'jin, chieftain of the Darkspear tribe and Rexxar, champion of the Horde.

The thumbnail of this brilliant MOC by timofey_tkachev totally got me. I was scrolling right past it, because it was just a picture of a monitor right? I don't have to ask you to imagine how I felt to discover with delight it's brick-built, I assume you just went through the same discovery. This is the front page of the Russian LEGO club phantoms.su, I can't read a word of it, but I don't care.

Four Decades Of Classic Space

Want to feel old? I already did before I saw this (oh my back, oh my eyesight, where did my hair go? get off my lawn...). Yes, Classic Space has turned forty, and it hasn't aged a day, incredible. Builder justin_m_winn celebrates this momentous occasion with this spectacular tribute. It was a big part of my childhood, and it makes me very happy that it's still a part of my life.

Now THIS Is Podracing

While I'm no fan of the prequels, I will say that the podrace in The Phantom Menace was a stand out scene. And I still own Podracing for Nintendo 64, so it can't be all bad. What's not bad at all is this colossal diorama depicting the scene. Builder thire5 built this back in 2016, it took a year and over 100k bricks! Admit it, you heard John Williams faintly in your head when you saw these pics.

Adventure Is In The Eye Of The Beholder

You enter a darkened space, the musty air is tinged with the coppery smell of blood. You can hear water dripping in the distance, echoing off the mossy, rough hewn stone walls. An unlit torch is on the wall, upon lighting it a low rumble is heard, like the cross between thunder and a large angry beast. Suddenly an enormous form drops from a hole in the ceiling, it's single cycloptic eye surrounded by stalks with many eyes...a Beholder!

Retro Spaceship Ready to Rocket Through Space

Many builders bring new designs, techniques, and styles forward in order to create incredible spaceships that look out of this world. No matter how cool they can be, sometimes it's nice to see a retro space build that brings things back down to Earth (so to speak). Boone Builds took the Retro Spacemen minifig from the 17th Collectible Minifigure Series as a source of inspiration to create this rad rocketship sporting some nice colors, sleek curvature, and powerful looking thrusters. I also really appreciate that Boone proves to us that you can swoosh this awesome spaceship. What do you guys think? Are you ready to try your hand at building some retro space models?!

Nathaniel Stoner

     My name is Nathaniel Stoner, and I am an very active LEGO builder.  I mostly build in the themes of castle and science-fiction, but I also dabble in other genres and create occasional random MOC's (My Own Creations). 

     When I was younger, I would get and build small LEGO sets for my birthday, but I was never really into them.  When they fell apart, I would become frustrated attempting to put them back together and would throw them in a box in my closet.  I couldn't stand them!

     Then, miraculously, I became addicted to the LEGO brick later in my teen years.  Ever since, I have continued to build up (pun intended) my collection of bricks and to expand my knowledge of techniques and building skills.  LEGO is truly more than a toy, its an art form and a way to express yourself.

     For the most part, I collect LEGO Star Wars (mainly the minifigs), which is probably my favorite LEGO theme.  I have a fairly decent collection, including some of the original 1999 sets, such as the Snowspeeder, X-Wing, and Naboo starfighter.  I also collected LEGO the Lord of the Rings when those sets first came out.  The minifigs are great, and the story remains one of my favorites ever. 

     My hope is to inspire other young (and perhaps even older) LEGO builders to unleash their inner creativity!  You can find me on my Flikr here.

Another half century mark here, one far more sobering but inspirational. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the assassination of one of the greatest voices of the 20th century, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I like to think we've come a long way since he shared his dream, and in a lot of ways we have, but we have a long way to go. A fitting and beautiful tribute to a great man by builder Ochre Jelly.

I never considered the fact that I'm the same age as 2001: A Space Odyssey, technically I'm older by three months. Now that we're the ripe old age of 50, it's time to look back with reverence, or in my case wonder where all the time has gone (and where my hair went). Brandon Griffith is celebrating this landmark (Kubrick's classic, not my dusty butt) with this gorgeous helmet reproduction.

P-98 Nemesis

Jon Hall is back with another gorgeous aircraft. This latest is clearly inspired by classic twin boom design, with dual props and a very centrally located cockpit. It's also armed to the teeth and combat ready. It features an opening cockpit, retractable landing gear and an unusual cowling using parts I honestly can't identify, adding even more intrigue. The color combination of sand blue, light grey and white accents is also really nice.

I remember as a young fan of Star Wars, upon probably the 40th or so viewing, thinking to myself "those backpacks must be their environmental packs". You know, keeping them cool in such a hot climate. In reality it added an additional 45 pounds of weight to an already heavy and hot costume, those actors and extras suffered for our entertainment. Still, Sandtroopers were badass, and this figure by LEGO 7 is no less impressive.
