Podracer Engine

There were very few redeeming values in Episode 1 (none of which make Jar Jar tolerable) but one was the pod race. In fact I remember going to see it again in a theater near me and getting up and leaving after the race. This engine by Nannan Z captures the essence of the racers themselves, power and simplicity. Just two bigass engines with a seat attached, that's racing.

Our pals at FBTB have been running a really cool contest, Alphabet Fighters, and entries are looking awesome. This entry by :VolumeX: is one of my favorites so far. I don't know how at home in the Star Wars universe this is, but I like it!

Brutal Legend

Check out these beasts! From the video game Brutal Legend comes this rockin' tour bus by Lino M and The Deuce by Proudlove. Both of these reinforce the fact that when it comes to over-the-top hot rods, "too much" simply isn't part of the vernacular. 

Hatsune Miku

What better way to convey a synthetic artist than with ABS plastic? This is singing sensation Hatsune Miku by LEGO DUO Moko. The proportions of this defy logic, how can that much hair be attached and posed? and how does this entire figure stand on those tiny little legs? Masterful.

Vertifin

Novvember is drawing to a close, but Vic Vipers are still popping up. This one by lego_nabii challenges the normal proportions to great effect. That forward facing canopy and rounded fuselage is pretty nifty too.

Winnebago: See The World, Kill Zombies

No, this isn't the vehicle from Breaking Bad, but it has all the same amenities, built in kitchen, full sized bed, seating for 8, ample storage and roof access. And hey, while you're up there why don't you pick off those zombies coming over the ridge.

Monde Cinema

I'm a sucker for art deco, and this lovely cinema by snaillad really caught my eye. I love the exterior walls on this, at once simplistic and cleverly detailed. But the real magic is inside. This interior just makes me happy, with the high ceiling in the lobby, the bar and just check out that stadium seating. I would love to see a movie here.

This MOC is so big and so detailed and so epic that writing this is the journalistic equivalent of pointing at a leather-bound copy of The Hobbit. Just gaze upon it and forget I was ever here. Go.

The Faun

This MOC from The Deathly Haliwell has a particular significance for me. I don't look back on the films that I've worked on with much pride, there's a lot of crap in my portfolio. But there is one film I did that I have no hesitation in saying I'm most proud of, Pan's Labyrinth. This is the title character, the Faun, and it's superb.

Iron Builder Draws To A Close

Things are coming to the end in the current battle for MOC supremacy between Brickthing and Onosendei2600. Both builders dropped the mic last night with some amazing final builds. Thanks to both of you for some awesome stuff to gawk at this month.

Shawn Snyder is one of my favorite builders, and these incredible Borg MOCs is an example why. His attention to detail, eye for contours and innovative part use just blows me away every time. Resisting him is futile (see what I did there?)

Pardon my nod the the Beastie Boys. Brucywan continues his plot for world domination through the recreation of everything in LEGO. Here we see his classic pine Car-Freshner. All the ambience without the horrible pine scent.

BURN•E

For the uninitiated, BURN•E is a Pixar short directed by AFOL Angus MacLane that takes place in the world of WALL•E. This version by Brickthing is pure magic, and the fact that it's built in an afternoon is amazing (and discouraging for slow builders like me). Throw in that it's all inspired by the seed part of Iron Builder and you can see why Brickthing is a contestant.

Transformers, Roll Out!

I was born just slightly too early to truly appreciate Transformers. They gained maximum popularity just as I was becoming more interested in filmmaking and girls than cartoons and toys. But I can truly appreciate great MOCs, and these from MacLane are just that, great.
