Nintendo fans of Metroid should recognize this badass beauty. It's spherically morphing heroine Samus. This is actually a rework of an older MOC by builder Pate-keetongu, and she looks better than ever. The free flowing style and pose-ability of this figure are stunning. Just over a year ago BrickNerd Studios completed work doing a load of animation (a lot of which is in this trailer!) for Beyond The Brick, a LEGO Brickumentary. I'm happy to see it's finally coming out soon. Check out the trailer!

Summer is almost here, and that means theme park season. You all know what a Disney geek I am, and I'll be there several times in the next few months, but if this place existed, I would visit it too. Welcome to Never Never Land, a wondrous park dreamed up by builder Keith Reed. It's got everything I love in a park, from fun rides and amazing attractions, to stunning decor and a stunt show! I think it would be right at home in Disneyland, and I would be there in a heartbeat.
Builder Grantmasters has recreated the cover of the Sideshow Collectibles' stunning book cover of Alien: The Weyland-Yutani Report. The results are chock full of disturbing Gigeresque goodness. I'm a little confused by the choice of weapons to add texture, but that xenomorph face is perfectly executed.
This is one of my favorite scenes in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Indy and his dad's daring escape via motorcycle and sidecar. The scene has everything, excitement, drama, humor and some great stunts. I mean, who doesn't like watching Nazi's crash motorcycles? Builder Mad physicist perfectly captures the moment with this brilliant MOC.
On a scale of one to ten, one being the least extreme, and ten being the most extreme, I give this a solid ten. Bricksky has created a fantastic scene here, with the boat's rooster tail wake blowing over the buoy adding to the dynamism of the build. Also a phenomenal use of the minifigure heads here - looks like they have mixed opinions of the ride.
There are only so many parts and colors in the "foliage" spectrum of LEGO, so getting a non-uniform and natural look to larger MOCs isn't easy. But Mark of Falworth shows us how it's done with this effortless diorama. The flow of color, diversity of texture and scattering of detail make this a perfect example on how to landscape.
I never played Grim Fandango. When it came out in 1998 I was an Amiga user and waited patiently for a port that never came. But I was a fan of all of Lucasarts' adventure games and I know this one was fantastic. This MOC by legorevival is also fantastic, and while we generally don't feature digital builds here on BrickNerd, this one is so superbly lit and rendered it just had to be blogged. Those exhaust pipes are awesome!

Builder Sheo brings us an elegant and stunning craft that looks like it came off the cover of Air & Space magazine. There's a lot to like about this ship but for me the stand out feature is the simple but super effective use of the triangular sign pieces. As you can see in the rear view they're just alternating back and forth and offset in rows, but the effect is excellent.
It's hard work, killing vampires, but it doesn't have to be unfashionable. The well-appointed gentleman slayer keeps all his supplies orderly, and you can too with this deluxe vampire hunter's kit from V&A Steamworks. With all the supplies you might need including holy water, a crucifix, stakes and more. All in a smart and attractive case that lets your prey know you mean business. So before you set out in the night again pick up this kit and always be ready for anything!
There's lots to be excited about with the premier of Avengers: Age of Ultron. Who IS this Ultron guy? Will our Heroes be victorious? What kind of outfits will Black Widow be wearing? Solo and Spockbacca, the Millennium Enterprise is on a five year mission in a galaxy far, far away. Boldly going where no man has gone before in less than 12 parsecs.
Yup, another Star Wars post. I should probably defend myself but I'm not gonna. The new Stormtroopers from The Force Awakens are super badass, and this Brick Sketch from Powerpig is also badass. So, one of my new favorite character designs from my favorite movie franchise built from my favorite toy and art medium by one of my favorite builders, how was I not going to blog it?
There's only about two weeks left in the Next Level Nerdly contest on Flickr, and part of the first place prize package is now chillin' at BrickNerd Studios thanks to Flat Bonnie. This is one of only three in the world, hand made and individually numbered (this one is 02). He's super squishy and awesome.
All you need to do is take Nerdly to the next level and upload a picture to the official Flickr group. Not attending Brick Magic? No problem, you can still enter. But if you are coming, please bring your Nerdly to show off. And right now the odds are incredibly good since there's not a single entry yet (meh). These little hard suits by umamen are case studies in tiny, clever construction. It took me a second to realize that the main body is a helmet, and I love when a MOC puzzles me, if fr only a moment. To be honest, some of the other connections in this little bundle of awesome still have me a bit mystified, but I'm totally cool with that.
This blog has certainly been a bit Star Wars-riffic recently, but can you blame us? The Force Awakens has everybody jonzin' for some good old galaxy far, far away stuff. Everyone knows I'm not a prequel fan, but there are some redeemable qualities. While the battle droids looked cool, they were too easily dispensed to be a reasonable threat (I mean, shutting off the wi-fi makes their heads pop off?) But the S.TA.P. was something to get excited about. It's like a flying Segway, with guns! Nice work nobu_tary.
Everyone's favorite character in the Star Wars universe has long ears, a big schnozola, and is pretty good with accidentally killing off battle droids in the heat of battle. And despite helping to fend off Phantom Menaces, he helps evil politicians become Sith lords and basically disappears by the third act of a lousy bunch of prequels. Sadly, this character will likely never become a part of the forthcoming LEGO Constraction line, here's Flickr user Letranger Absurde's excellent take on Jar Jar Binks, making clever use of 1x2 log bricks as feet, skeleton minifig arms as fingers, and smooth sloping elements all around. Still trying to figure out, though, if Letranger is trying to tell us something by having this particular Gungan walk on water.
