Marvel Mixel Masterpieces
/As the world's nerd population descends upon San Diego California (this nerd included) all manner of dedication to the universe of comics and pop culture is on display. Builder monsterbrick has assembled his own band of heroes mashing up Marvel and the fabulous ball joints from the Mixels line (with a few fun eyeballs to boot). There's some seriously pose-able super hero action going on here.
Teeming With Bugs
/On a recent visit to Hawaii I remembered something about home that I take for granted, very few bugs. It takes a trip outside your bubble sometimes to realize what you have. Not that I have anything against bugs (at least the ones that don't want to nibble on me). But I suppose if all bugs had fun googly eyes like these from legorobo:waka they would be more entertaining to be around.
Benny's Mini Spaceship Spaceship SPACESHIP!
/If you've seen The LEGO Movie (you have, haven't you?) you'll remember Benny, the exceptionally enthusiastic spacer. And you've no doubt drooled after Benny's super-sweet giant spaceship. Well powerpig has scaled things down to a more manageable (and affordable) level with this mini version of his ship. I dig it, it's like a Micro-Fighters scale version.
WALL•E
/Director, builder and all around awesome guy Angus MacLane has further refined his already amazing WALL•E and the results speak for themselves. The best news is you don't just have to gawk at pictures of this MOC, with your support, there's a chance you could have one of your very own. Less than 2500 votes needed, it's getting so close!
R-16 Vindicator
/I really love this new aircraft from the king of fanciful flight Jon Hall. The color scheme is the first thing that grabs your attention, all that yummy olive green. It looks military at first, but the shape is just a little too cute and stubby to be intimidating. Then she opens up with her quad cannons and you're history.
Red Baron Down
/I had a really cool Red Baron model kit when I was a kid. Of course I really had no idea what it represented, who Manfred von Richthofen was or who was fighting who and for what reason 50 years before I was born. All I knew is it was a bitchin' red triplane. Speaking of which, it's no less awesome built in bricks as we can see in this sweet diorama by PigletCiamek.
The Perfect Pass
/Just when I thought I could go back to not caring about soccer (hey, the World Cup is over and I'm American), Siercon & Coral bring us their entry to the Eurobricks Turtle Madness Contest. And just like Koopa Paratroopa dominates the field, I think they may dominate this contest with this entry.
It's Not A Bear
/Some fun Koala facts:
- Koalas are not bears, they are marsupials.
- The don't necessarily need to drink, they get their hydration from leaves.
- They often sleep 18-20 hours a day.
- When build in LEGO by Bruce Lowell, they are particularly adorable
Scarlet Spider Vs Venom
/While this isn't necessarily a MOC per say, it's still LEGO art in my opinion, and it's compelling. Builder Grantmasters has skillfully and patiently arranged all manner of LEGO elements to create an image inspired by Fleer's Ultra Spiderman cards from the 90's. The effect is quite cool.
Stealth Is Not A Feature
/Nothing speaks of confidence than to roll on your enemy with supreme firepower painted bright yellow. This obnoxiously yellow landship (that's space_e's official title) sports three turrets and four treads in counter triangular configuration. And if that wasn't enough, it's also remote controlled with an adder-subtractor drive. It's a lumbering beast that is designed to dominate the battlefield, regardless of color.
In Summer!
/Dateline Miami Florida
Scientists researching the negative effects of men over 50 wearing speedos were startled today to discover a small snowman enjoying the summer heat and sun. Using instruments they had on hand they took several measurements and could not explain the apparent decelerated melt rate of the afore mentioned snow. After several hours study the team adjourned to a nearby hotel to study the data. It should be noted that during all that time it escaped the scientists attention that the snowman did indeed walk, talk, sing and wear a silly hat.
Ossuary
/I featured Crazy Bricks' skulls on episode 206 of BrickNerd. But even though I had a fairly generous handful of them, the thought of building something like this would have never occurred to me. I guess it speaks to V&A Steamworks' darker side that this is even a thing. I think maybe we should keep a close eye on Guy...just sayin'
2054 Lexus Concept
/Say what you will about 2002's Tom Cruise film Minority Report, there was some way cool design in that movie. From the gesture-based displays to the jet packs, there was cool tech everywhere you looked. But very little of it was as cool as the Lexus concept car, and now we can admire it in brick form thanks to Mad Physicist.
Beach Fruit Hut
/Having just returned from a wonder vacation in Hawaii, the timing on this MOC is perfect. Builder Miro78 as crafted the quintessential beach hut, where all the locals and the tourists can get some delicious fruit and lemonade. I wonder if they serve shave ice?
UPDATE: This has just been accepted as a LEGO Ideas project, head over and love on it.
Rockin' Fett
/Did you know Boba Fett was a rock star? Neither did I! I also never suspected Han Solo frozen in carbonite could double as an amp, but luckily M<0><0>DSWIM came along to enlighten us. Rock on Boba, rock on...
Do Not Pass Go, Do Not Collect $200
/But do check out this excellent little Monopoly MOC by iridescent nohow. I've spent many, many hours playing this game in my life, and I always seem to lose. Unless we're playing my Star Wars special edition, then I win just for getting the Boba Fett piece.
Spawn
/Back in the 90's Todd MacFarlane's Spawn made waves in the comic world and then in the toy world. Now Orion Pax is here to make waves in the AFOL community with this amazing build of the title character. While I'm not a huge fan of customization, I have to say the paint work and modifications on this MOC are amazing.
