AutoSort 2600

LEGO Unveiled an unexpected product this morning, the AutoSort 2600. "It's the holy grail of LEGO enthusiasts world wide" claims LEGO CEO Jørgen Vig Knudstorp. "We realize that sorting LEGO bricks is a time-consuming activity, we see that here every day in the workshops. That is why we perfected this device." According to the press release this thing will sort by color and part in record time. Just dump your bricks into the hopper at the top, select which theme is the predominate product and sort. Within minutes your bricks are sorted. "We realize the price point of 60,000 DKK (a little over $9,000 USD) is a little high for the average consumer, but we built this for the real fans. Besides, we're known for being a little pricy, but we're better known for quality". The AutoSort 2600 is expected to be available the second quarter of 2017. 

UPDATE: April fools! Sorry folks, this thing isn't real, so the dream lives on...

Bricks & Boilers

Attention steampunk and LEGO enthusiasts, it's time to compete. Announcing the Bricks & Boilers Exposition, brought to you by the dapper gentleman and lovers of chuff Ted Andes and Guy Himber. There are three categories to enter:

Strut Your Stuff - "Build a Walker for the Grand Parade" - minifig piloted, no size (or leg) limits.
"Hall of Wonders" - "Make a Display Model for the Royal Museum". Free-build category. The device/invention must fit into a 16x16 stud area, but it can unfold into anything larger (build to any scale)
Amusement Gardens - "Create a Moving Carnival Ride/Attraction" - limited to 32x32 stud base area (overhang permitted above the base); “You Control the Action!”

ROM: Spaceknight

So how long before we see a ROM movie from Marvel? If Guardians of the Galaxy can become a thing, why not ROM? Sure it's a comic inspired by a terrible toy that ended up being way more cool than said toy deserved. But with all the super heroes movies coming out, this guy could be a thing too. Until then we can admire this bust by SPARKART!

Matter Of Life And Death

Builders LinoM and rabidnovaracer have teamed up for March's LUGnuts challenge "Matter of life and death" to bring us two vehicles two vehicles designed for a critical moment in life, namely the potential end of it. Should disaster strike you might find yourself in the Flatline Ford, racing to the hospital. But if things shouldn't go too well you might end up in the Hells Bells Hearse. Either way you're traveling in style.

Old School Recording

Back in the day if you wanted to record some audio you used one of these, a cassette recorder. They were huge, they were clunky, they were crude and they were awesome. This one was build by Nathan Wells for the brickfilming documentary Bricks in Motion (in which I make a brief appearance!). It's 1:1 scale and amazingly accurate, brings back a lot of memories.

Ernagh's Exotic Edible Economic Experiment

Castle builders never cease to amaze me. Not only is the bar being continually raised for build quality and techniques, but the stories get more and more elaborate and deep. This diorama by builder aardwolf_83 is a real treat for the eyes. A highlight of course is that net-based contoured roof and striking silhouette of the house, but take a look at those trees, they're a wonder. Muravi Mini Forklift

I love when a MOC makes me go "wait, what?" That's the case with this awesome little forklift from builder mahjqa. The clean build and excellent pictures caught my attention, but I assumed it was just a nice Technic build, then I watched the video. This thing is a seriously agile and accurate little MOC, and the creative photography with Technic rigs is super impressive. The inclusion of the S-Brick makes it tablet controlled and the results are spectacular. And luckily for all of us the builder has shared the LDD file on his website as well, we can build our own!

Spectre 501

Behold:  The Spectre 501 Long Range Recon Shuttle by Michal Kazmierczak!  As you can see, this thing is a monster, covered with all sorts of greebly goodies.  But what intrigues me the most is that Michal will be using this ship, and its multitude of access points, as the main setting for a sci-fi comic.  It's designed to open, as shown in the second pic, and even come apart for the purpose of photographing the crew and machinery within.  So stay tuned!

Gideon-Bot

Gravity Falls was one of my all-time favorite Disney cartoon series. It had a great story, fantastic art design, and memorable characters. One of which was Gideon, the pint-sized nemesis of the Pine twins. Aaron Gomez made a great brick rendition of Gideon's giant mecha The Gideon-Bot. Where's Mabel and her grappling hook when you need her?!

Mountain Of Art

Art has always played a major role in my life, and sharing it and encouraging it is one of the founding principals of BrickNerd. So this enormous brick-built tribute to it by Toltomeja really resonates with me. it depicts the very diverse and interesting history of art, from cave paintings all the way to modern art. Freya

The king of greeb is back with a sweet little micro scale space cruiser. This is the Freya by Legoloverman, and she's lovely. She has the right balance of detail to panel, a distinctive profile and just the right amount of greebly goodness (I bet the bottom is a wonder to behold). All with that neo classic space aesthetic that Pete's famous for.

Kashima

Builder MikeVD is back with another whimsical character from the web game "Kantai Collection". This is Kashima, and like her battleship namesake, she's armed to the teeth. But that doesn't mean she's not cute. Just don't make her mad, because unlike most girls, she has depth charges.

Stumpy McHook

Avast there you lilly livered land lubbers, this here be Stumpy McHook by Vitreolum. He'll be wanting your treasure, or perhaps your ship. And you can tell by the way he carries his own cannon that he'll have no trouble taking it. Or maybe he will, legs don't lose themselves you know.

Whambulance

Accidentally dropped a ratchet on your face while adjusting your valves? Lowered the floor jack onto your foot? Catch your head in the wheel well when the jack stands failed? Better hop in the Whambulance by Proudlove, because sometimes the ride to the hospital needs to be just as dangerous as what sent you there. 

Panda Mech

If you're going to build a giant robot to pilot around and do battle, why not do it with a little panache? It doesn't have to look like all the other giant robots right? Sure Mechagodzilla looked like a giant lizard, and Mechani-Kong looked like an ape, but they were both sort of ugly. The Panda Mech by Dvd however...well it's adorable and deadly at the same time!

My Kind Of Room

At first I was going to say something about me liking this ultimate X-Wing room by tanKM when I was a kid, then I realized I'm a man child and I think I'd be ok with this right now. The color scheme, decorations and cockpit computer console bay window would be mind-blowing enough, but an X-Wing bed? Gimme gimme gimme!

Bigger On The Inside (And Pretty Big Everywhere Else)

I found it pretty serendipitous that I should have Doctor Who in the back of my mind (I'm in pre-production of an animated short) when I scroll down my Flickr feed and see this. Everyone knows the TARDIS is bigger on the inside, but have you seen a MOC as big as this one by Librarian-Bot depicting it? Not only that but a fantastic street scene loaded with references to the show. This has given me so much inspiration! Click through for many more pics, it's worth it.

Wiggler

So there you are, minding your own business, out for a stroll on a lovely sunny day. Then suddenly this apparently lost plumber comes along, bouncing around like an idiot and comes crashing down on you. You might be excused for going beast mode right? Builder Koen brings us this wonderful Wiggler.

Centaur Knight

This centaur knight by nobu_tary is a fantastic mashup of Knights Kingdom, Bionicle and Hero Factory, with just a little bit of System thrown in for flavor. All seamlessly blended into one fantastic fantasy character. Combine that with the pose and the photography and it all comes together to near perfection.

Enterprize

This jaw-dropping sailing ship by redmondej is hands down the single most magnificent minifig scale frigate I've ever seen. It's absolutely enormous, stunningly beautiful and mind-bogglingly detailed. The rigging alone is so intricate that you'd swear it's fully functional. And it's not just a pretty shell, it has three fully detailed decks inside. I truly hope I get to see this thing in person some day, it's gorgeous.
