Euclid R-170

I've always wanted to see one of these man-made wonders in person, there's just not that much heavy mining on the central coast of California (but you know, I'm fine with that too). It's just staggering to me that we can make such colossal machines, and that they work. It's also staggering to me that we can build such colossal recreations of these machines in brick, as builder Beat Felber has done here. Not only is it big, beautiful and beefy, it's remote controlled with S-Brick and Power Functions. And check out those custom wheels!

Cha, Boska!

Jabba really doesn't like being threatened or told what to do. We saw what happened to Luke, and he was being pretty nice about it, even offered a gift (well, not really, it was all a trick). And rancors are always hungry, if not a little misunderstood, so Luke had his hands full after getting dropped. All this action is laid out in this excellent two story MOC of Jabba's palace by builder Martin Harris, where every scene can be recreated (and pretty much has in his photostream, check it out). Now I wanna watch Jedi...mmmm, slave Leia....

The Fires of Hell in Mech Form

Starting February off with a firey creation here on BrickNerd.  With all the rapid technological advances, even hellish demons need an upgrade.  Jokes aside, this super hot mech created by Moko will singe the hair right off your eyebrows if you zoom in too closely.  There are so many beautiful translucent red, yellow, and orange colors mixed together to give the intimidating appearance you see before you.  I've never seen anything quite like this model.  It is evident that this new design seems to be a clear contrast of Moko's previous Crystalon machine.  Personally, I like the fire mech more, so I guess I'm officially a hot head.

A Little Mahjong

I've played mahjong a lot, sadly it's only been on my phone, by myself. I've never even actually seen a proper mahjong set, and I've certainly never played with another human. Judging by the sheer joy inherent in this MOC by MikeVD, I'm missing out. Perhaps it's about time I take the steps needed to make this happen in real life.

A Pair Of Docs

Great Scott! Builder Legohaulic has shared another pair of ironic busts. This time around it's the 11th Doctor from Doctor Who and Doc Brown from Back To The Future. Talk about the ultimate timey wimey mashup, a time traveller and a time lord! They're expressions say it all though, this time and space stuff is not for the faint of heart

Mega Core Vehicle Platform

FebRovary is here, and builder ZCerberus is back with an ultra-flexible and humungous neo classic space offering. This is the M.C.V.P, or Mego Core Vehicle Platform, a multi-use, reconfigurable lunar vehicle with a multitude of variants. Here you see it in a couple of configurations, including a BrickNerd exclusive double ion cannon and twin phased pulse rail gun mode. Check out more configurations and the whole story on Eurobricks.

Can't Outrun a Jedi

What a cool shot!  Ordo just composed a well executed scene that could have come directly from an official LEGO movie!  Apart from having a cool new speeder design, the builder chose to create a Coruscant-like cityscape to act as a nice background, really making this MOC look like a film sequence.  I just think it's a well designed set for these figures, especially with that secondary speeder in the background.  It would be nice to see more creations like this!

Elementary My Dear Bilbo

Builder Legohaulic has a treat for us. Apparently quite some time back he built a series of figures to pair up in ironic couples, and now he's ready to unleash them on us. The first pair is incredible, with a little something for both the Sherlock and the Hobbit crowds. And even better for those who love both, like me.

The Dark Knight

The world has sorta gone Batman crazy (and regular crazy come to think of it) with the looming debut of the LEGO Batman Movie. I can relate, I'm so excited we're giving away a complete set of Minifigures and tickets to see the movie! So while I may not have been surprised to see this bust of Gotham's Dark Knight by builder havoccnp, that doesn't mean I didn't go "oooooooh" as soon as I laid eyes on it.

CS Controler 15

"Shuttle, this is Control.  You are cleared to land.  Welcome to the 1-5."  "Copy that Control..."  I just love space stations, with all their landing chatter and procedures.  Something like this is way overdue, and Damien Labrousse had really delivered.  He's come up with a convincing asymmetric design, a nifty saucer embedded within the control tower, and of course the Classic Space color scheme.  To top it off, it's finished with some high quality photo-editing, just floating there in low orbit.  One question for Damien, though, how'd you get it to balance on that antenna?

Autocar A64B

I don't know a whole lot about big trucks, but that doesn't diminish my appreciation for one that's well built. This Autocar A64B, the same truck used by Sylvester Stallone in Over The Top I understand, is detailed inside and out, right down to the fully kitted out engine compartment and stocked toolbox. Builder havoccnp took great care constructing this workhorse of the 60's and 70's, and it shows.

Bizarre Alien Hovercraft

You do not want to get rammed by this vehicle!  Nannan Zhang created an interesting design for an alien hover vehicle, featuring blue elements on the side really cause this creation to pop.  What I find interesting are the "tires," which are a very futuristic and sleek design.  (Obviously they're not tires, but I don't know what else to call them.)  Can you imagine a squadron of these hovering down the street?  That would be pretty cool!  Nice job creating a super unique design, Nannan!

Incredible MOCs Based On Incredible Vehicles Used By Incredible People Who Do Incredible Things

Like most people I have deep respect for firefighters, they're a breed apart. They're fearless daily battles with that most destructive of elements gives us peace of mind and inspiration. The firefighters and other emergency crews of New York are an especially hearty bunch, and builder sponki25 is clearly a fan. He has assembled an entire fleet of reproductions of vehicles, each lovingly built with the utmost attention to detail. I strongly encourage you to click through and check out the many more pictures of many more vehicles and figures, they're awesome.

Vintage Home Decor

What a time it must have been in the late 1800's and early 1900's, a fanciful new invention was coming out practically every month, opportunity was everywhere and craftsmen still made the furniture. The occupant of this study must have been fairly well to do, but had excellent taste. Builder Jared Chan shows us how vintage is done.

W3-5T and W4-RD

This makes my nerd heart go pitter patter. Builder Pete Reid brings us this dynamic duo mashup of some of his classic robot forms in a brand new crimefighting configuration. Meet W3-5T and W4-RD (an absolutely brilliant name for these two, think about it), Gotham's cure for crime. I would totally read this comic, or watch this movie, over and over.

Esgaroth

Lake-town (also known as Esgaroth) was so under-appreciated in the Hobbit film trilogy.  A city built in the middle of the lake?  How cool is that!  In the story, it is said that Esgaroth was once a wealthy and prosperous city, but was affected (like Dale) by the dragon Smaug.  In the films, Esgaroth seemed to be a city filled with poverty.  I wish we could have seen it in its prime.  Marcel V. has done a wonderful job capturing the visual appearance of the town, while making it seem a bit more cheerful, even if it is cold.  The woodwork that he has done in his latest creation is well executed, especially the supports on the tower and that slightly bowed bridge.  I can never get tired of seeing well done Lord of the Rings MOC's!

The Sky Is Falling!

OK, not really, but it certainly kinda feels like it these days. But this MOC by alanboar wasn't built to lament a world gone wild, but to celebrate Chinese New Year. It's Chicken Little, from the Disney film of the same name. I haven't seen the movie in years, but we have it on DVD somewhere, and I recall laughing out loud at the dodgeball dance scene, so maybe it's time to watch it again.

Three Droids And A Princess

As I type this (in a McDonald's in San Gabriel) I'm counting down the hours to when Bricks LA starts. One of the things I'm looking forward to, besides spending time with all my AFOL friends, is seeing so many awesome MOCs in person. I'm especially looking forward to seeing this amazing group by Miro78. Threepio is the latest addition to this excellent Star Wars collection, and he's all built in gold, with an especially clever use of Wu's hat on his belly. I will point out however he should have a silver lower right leg, just sayin'.

Gold Leader Standing By...

I've always been a fan of the Y-Wing, with it's scrappy, no nonsense construction, clearly the result of decades of optimizing and losing non essential things, like body panels. They're flying tanks piloted by fearless rebels like Jon "Dutch" Vander, gold leader. This version by mrutek looks awesome, and appears ready to take on the entire Empire itself. I just wanna swoosh it!

With Fries On the Side

A new round of the ABS Builder Challenge has started this month, which means its time for a series of creations from four builders incorporating a unique element!  This meal. . .I mean. . .creation prepared (wait, I meant built, I swear!) by Legopold incorporates the dark orange curved top piece as a steamy hot dog.  The element truly does work well as a weaner!  The question is, would you eat this?  If stepping on a LEGO was bad enough, I can't imagine how this would feel.  Check out the Challenge's Flikr group for more builds from Round 1.8!
