F15 Eagle Comin' In...

According to builder Kai NRG/Geneva, his own grandfather helped develop the F15 Eagle. There can't be a more appropriate reason to take on building a model of this fighter jet, and I think Kai produced a magnificent model that I'd love to hang from my ceiling! The subtle angle of the wings, the excellent cockpit area (which is not easy at this scale, I might add), and the inclusion of some interesting choice in elements combine together to create this creation. I see no reason why Kai's grandfather could not be proud of this design. 

Wanna Build a Snowman, Bats?!

A bit more ominous winter creations...but an interesting (and perhaps even funny) one at that. Here we see Joker himself have a bit of playful fun, crafting his very own themed snowman. Though it may look innocent on the outside, I'm sure on the inside there's quite a bit of explosives and Joker cards just waiting to be released. A very interesting build by Sad Brick. 

Slick Sleigh

Of course, Santa is not complete without his elegant sleigh to carry presents to children around the world! The month of December is also never complete without several Christmas sleigh designs. This one in particular, built by BrickinNick, reminds me of the one we see in The Polar Express film. This sleigh is elegant, but also looks solid enough to hold the weight of those gifts (plus some milks and cookies, I'm sure). The only thing missing here are some reindeer. Perhaps it's dinner time for them?

Wait, What?

That's one of my favorite unintentional reactions to a MOC. And I'm guessing you may not have even realized the image below is brick built yet have you? Yeah, take a closer look (now close your mouth, you look silly). It's a self deprecating parody piece by Sheo, lamenting the lack of notifications on his Flickr page. Show him some love.

Asterix & Obelix

We've featured these characters a few times here on BrickNerd over the years, and I STILL have no idea who they are (beyond the names and obvious comic origins). But that doesn't diminish my appreciation of a good character build, and this one by lummerlander is a good character build.

Here Comes Santa Claus

Christmas is just over a week away, so preparations at the North Pole have to be absolutely frantic. And with the growing world population of kids (and adult kids like me) means that Santa has just a few more visits every year. Luckily builder Norton74 has a solution to this, by souping up the sleigh into a hot rod. Though the flight characteristics are not clear, on the snow it looks like it really moves.

Flatbed

There's just something about vehicles from the 50's isn't there? I realize automotive designs are always in motion, and fads come and go, but there was something about the sensibilities of 50's design that seems so inviting and eye pleasing. Even something as utilitarian as this truck by redfern1950s2 feels like more than just a practical service vehicle, it's got character.

Piranha

One of the reasons I love California is there is very few dangerous creatures here. Sure we have the occasional mountain lion or bear incident, but for the most part the critters here are pretty chill. Not that I'm one to spend much time in water, but if I lived anywhere close to where these little dudes swam, I don't know I'd even want to take a bath. A nice reminder from builder Sebastian_green that some fish are not messing around.

Maker Space

Makers gonna make. I believe everyone is a maker, some may just have not discovered it yet. I've spent my entire life with an overwhelming need to create, and rarely a day goes by that I don't create something from nothing, or at least make progress on a larger something. And all that stuff needs to be created somewhere, like my studio, your dad's wood shop, your mom's craft room, everyone's LEGO corner or this hover bike workshop from LEGOMINDED. It doesn't matter how messy or clean it is, or your budget or square feet, what matters is it feeds your need to create, allows that spark to happen, helps you MAKE.

Santa Corgi

If there's two things going on at my house, it's Christmas and Corgis. We have two Pembroke corgis at our house, Teemo and Lulu. Teemo is tan and white, and loves Christmas, just like this absolutely adorable creation by BrickinNick. I just tried to take a picture of Teemo wearing a Santa hat to share with you all, it didn't go well.

State Theater

 I love a good old theater, one that was built with the full theatrical experience in mind, when craftsmanship mattered. I love it even more when modern day people acknowledge the importance of an old theater and take steps to preserve it. This is the State Theater in Hong Kong, built by Alanboar and his friend Mythbot. The model was built as part of the conservation efforts to save the classic theater. You can view many more pictures, including the fully decked out interior and read more about the project at Alanboar's website.

MCU Rover

Space is a dangerous place. Let's face it, without a significant amount of technology humans would simply be frozen meatsicles floating around the void. Luckily we're reasonably clever, and in the future we can look forward to tooling around distant planet surfaces in machines like this awesome behemoth by hhcBrick. I don't know what they're collecting and I don't care, I just want to go for a ride.

Sopwith Camel

The description of this MOC by is so interesting I will let builder Dread Pirate Wesley speak for himself. 

The Sopwith Camel is one of the most famous aircraft ever built. It holds a special place in history as the most successful allied aircraft of the Great War. It also as a unique distinction of having killed more of its own pilots than enemy aircraft did by virtue of its difficult handling characteristics in the hands of unskilled pilots. Still, the unstable flight characteristics made for an extremely agile fighter in the hands of a seasoned pilot.

Toy Soldier

I love Disneyland almost as much as Christmas (or is it the other way around?) so when the two are combined I am automatically happy. If you've never visited Disneyland during the holidays you're missing out, it's the most magical time of the year at the happiest place on earth, plus they have gingerbread men. Toy soldiers have been walking in the parade since the early 60's and are always a crowd favorite. Thanks Swan Dutchman for a little holiday and Disney cheer!

Porg: The Other White Meat

Porgs, they are primed and ready to be a love it/hate it aspect of Star Wars The Last Jedi. I for one think they are kinda cute, but am honestly a bit leery. But I swore to reserve judgement until I see the movie, and I will. Regardless if you love them or hate them, you gotta admit they're probably good eatin', at least ewoks think so (and so does Ochre Jelly).

Robot Saints

All you need for a religion is an idea and a bunch of people to agree that's a pretty good idea. Who's to say we can't worship a robot deity? And if we did, why not recognize some robots as saints? That seems to be the inspiration behind this collaboration between Djokson, Kingmarshy, Lord-Oblivion, Anthony (The Secret Walrus) Wilson, The Chosen One and Disty. 

Santa's Workshop Advent Calendar

I was just sitting here lamenting my LEGO Star Wars advent calendar (I've recognized one thing so far and the box keeps ripping) when I discovered this absolutely stunning advent calendar from kjm161. And if you think the outside is impressive, not only does it have a daily surprise for the countdown to Christmas, it's got a fully detailed and richly decorated interior. You owe it to yourself to click through and check out the many pictures of this wonderful holiday MOC.

Beary Bad Day

Humans sure take a lot of pride being "top of the food chain", but I can assure you it's only because we're slightly more clever and built cities and houses. Drop most modern day people off in the middle of nowhere and they'll quickly figure out where they stand, especially if there's bears around. And this is nothing new, as illustrated in this hilarious MOC by lummerlander. You would think after tens of thousands of years we'd learn...nope.

Silver And Gold

I might be skewing this a bit more to the holidays than intended, I'm in a christmasy mood. But really, with that much pearl gold, silver and chrome, I could see Santa screaming around the north pole in this beast by redfern1950s2. Well, that is if he could squeeze into it. With a chop that aggressive he might have to roll Big Daddy Roth style, if you know what I mean.
